Torremolinos combines coastal scenery with marked hiking trails, historic buildings and leisure activities. To help you decide, here are some specific differences: the coast is all about beaches and paths along the Mediterranean, while other routes lead through Mediterranean pine forests. Buildings such as the Torre Pimentel offer a glimpse into the town’s history.

Coast: beaches, promenade and water sports

The Senda Litoral connects Torremolinos’s six beaches along just over six kilometres of coastline. The sixth stage of the Senda Litoral also runs through Torremolinos. In addition, an extension of the beach promenade provides a seaside walk past El Morro and a route along the Mediterranean. El Morro is a natural monument and forms the natural boundary between La Carihuela and El Bajondillo. Water sports such as jet skiing, pedal boats and jet boats are available at Playa de Los Álamos. Operators and availability may vary by season.

Hiking trails and scenery

CxM Trail A01 Torremolinos is the first centre certified by FEDME and offers marked routes classified by difficulty. The PR-A 172 Puertos de Torremolinos is almost circular, 9.9 kilometres long and runs through the Montes de Torremolinos. By contrast, La Cañada del Lobo has a network of trails through dense Mediterranean pine forest, where holm oaks, cork oaks, wild olive trees and dwarf palms grow. The trails lead to viewpoints with panoramic views across the Costa del Sol. The options described therefore differ: one is an almost circular trail with a specified length, while the other is a network connecting forest and viewpoints.

Buildings and culture

The Torre Pimentel is twelve metres high and built of rammed earth. Its structure includes a solid base, two storeys, windows and a large terrace. It was built around 1300 as part of the coastal defence network developed by the Nasrids. The Casa de los Navajas was built in 1925 and belonged to the Luque-Navajas family. It hosts various exhibitions, concerts and theatre performances. As it is temporarily closed, check before your trip whether the Casa is open to visitors.
