Chamorga is one of the settlements in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife located in Anaga Rural Park. If you are considering the village as a destination, you can plan around its hiking trails, landscape and local traditions.

Hiking Trails in Chamorga

Numerous hiking trails converge in Chamorga. The linear PR-TF 5 hiking trail starts in the village and ends in Igueste de San Andrés. It is 10.3 kilometres long, rated moderate and takes five hours. Distance and duration answer different questions when planning your day: the kilometre figure describes the route distance, while the time estimate indicates how long it takes. The moderate difficulty rating provides a separate assessment of the route.

The PR-TF 5 passes through Monteverde forest and crosses ridges and the headwaters of the Anosma and Ijuana ravines. These landscape features add specific details about the route to the distance figures. Check the latest information on trail conditions before setting out.

The self-guided “Chamorga–Casas de Tafada” hiking route is available in Spanish, English and German. You can choose between these three languages for your directions. Printed materials may not always be available, so check in advance whether the edition you want is in stock.

Getting There and Planning Your Route

TITSA route 947 connects the Santa Cruz interchange with Chamorga via San Andrés, El Bailadero, Anaga Rural Park, Lomo Bodegas and La Cumbrilla. The PR TF 06 El Draguillo–Chamorga–Faro de Anaga hiking trail can be reached from the Santa Cruz interchange by taking this route to Chamorga; route 947 can also take you back from Chamorga to the interchange. Check the timetable and route before travelling.

This information covers different aspects of planning: the PR-TF 5 is a linear hike from Chamorga to Igueste de San Andrés that takes five hours. The route 947 connection, by contrast, describes the outward and return journeys between Santa Cruz and Chamorga for the PR TF 06. This lets you consider the hike and bus journey as separate parts of your travel plans.

Landscape and Local Traditions

Chamorga retains a landscape of cultivated plots and traditional architecture. The surrounding area is home to well-preserved Monteverde forests, juniper groves and dragon tree communities. This brings the village and its cultural landscape into focus on the one hand, and the surrounding forests and plant life on the other, as distinct aspects of getting to know the area.

Festivals honouring the Virgen del Carmen are celebrated in Chamorga. If you would like to plan your trip around this occasion, check the latest dates and programme before making arrangements. This cultural highlight adds another way to experience Chamorga alongside its hiking trails and landscape.
