Discover Benissa
Accommodation in Benissa
Benissa combines a coastal trail with two coves, cycling routes and cultural attractions. If you’re looking for a hotel in Benissa, it helps to first decide what you’d like to focus on during your trip: the coastal trail and coves, cycling or a cultural event.
Walking along the coast
The Paseo Ecológico de Benissa is four kilometres long and runs along the entire coast. Information boards cover the area’s history, vegetation and distinctive features. This means you can explore the trail not only as a coastal route, but also with an eye to the local nature and history.
The Paseo is signposted along its entire length. Before setting out, check the condition of the signposting, as it may require maintenance. The trail’s length provides a clear basis for planning, but does not indicate the conditions on the day of your visit.
Coves with different features
A footpath with information boards about the Benissa coast leads to Cala de Pinets. The pebble cove is 60 metres long and around 10 metres wide; its waters are calm and shallow. Snorkelling, diving, kayaking and hiking are possible at Cala de Pinets. The path and information boards make the coastal area part of the outing.
Cala Baladrar offers a different coastal setting: it lies between cliffs and pine trees that reach almost to the sea. Its clear water covers a pebble seabed. The coves therefore have different features to consider when choosing between them: at Pinets, the dimensions and calm, shallow water are specifically described, while at Baladrar, the cliffs, pine trees and pebble seabed define the landscape.
Cycling: compare distance and difficulty
Benissa has cycling routes for road bikes, mountain bikes and gravel bikes. Two mountain biking (BTT) routes can be compared by length and difficulty: the Benissa - Bernia BTT route is 35.40 kilometres long and rated difficult. The Ruta del moscatell BTT covers 20.10 kilometres and is rated easy. When planning, you can compare a longer route rated difficult with a shorter route rated easy. Conditions may vary by route; check them before setting out.
Art and festivals
The historic manor house Les Cases del Batlle is home to the Espai d’Art Contemporani Salvador Soria, which promotes contemporary art. Here, a historic architectural setting and contemporary art sit side by side, adding a cultural dimension to the nature and activity options.
Annual festivals include the Fiestas Patronales in honour of the Purísima Xiqueta, celebrated in Benissa in April, and Moros y Cristianos in June. The exact festival dates vary from year to year. If you’d like to plan your trip around one of the festivals, check the dates for the relevant year.
Whether your stay is mainly about the coastal trail, the coves, cycling or a festival, Benissa’s varied attractions offer concrete ideas for planning your trip. Decide on your focus and travel dates before choosing a hotel for your stay.
