Pedreguer combines mountain trails, viewpoints and historic buildings. When planning a stay, the routes offer different distances and time frames; churches and mills also reveal other aspects of the town. If you are looking for a hotel in Pedreguer, these landscape and cultural themes can help guide your trip planning.

Landscape, Views and Trails

Mirador de Mirabarques is located on Monte Pedreguer. The structure consists of a metal framework with a semicircular wooden platform. Since 1998, the viewpoint has offered expansive views across much of the Marina.

The Sendero de Pedreguer PR-V53 runs through the mountainous part of Pedreguer and the Sierra del Castillo de la Solana, also known as Muntanya Gran. Numerous dry-stone terraces line the route. They are associated with the former cultivation of olives, almonds, carob and grapes in Pedreguer.

Routes by Distance and Time Frame

Les Fonts de la Muntanya is connected to the PR-V53 and offers views of Pedreguer and the sea. The route is 5.2 km long, takes about two hours and is rated moderate to easy. The route to Castillo del Ocaive is 10 km long and is estimated to take about three hours. It is also rated moderate to easy. This makes it possible to compare the two trails by distance and approximate duration.

The PR-V53, by contrast, is rated moderate to challenging. Its route through the mountainous part of Pedreguer and the Sierra del Castillo de la Solana therefore differs in difficulty from the two shorter, easier-rated trails. The dry-stone terraces along the PR-V53 also recall the former cultivation of various crops in the municipality.

Historic Buildings

Iglesia de la Santa Cruz stands in the town centre and was built at the beginning of the 15th century. It is considered Pedreguer’s most important historic and artistic monument and is a Bien de Relevancia Local. Inside, the church preserves one of the finest examples of sgraffito decoration.

Architectural structures from the Middle Ages, more precisely from the 13th and 14th centuries, have been preserved at the summit of Castillo del Ocaive. This marks a difference in period from Iglesia de la Santa Cruz, which was built at the beginning of the 15th century. The route to the castle is also one of the two hiking options described with a specific distance and time estimate.

Molinets and Visiting the Interior

Molinets consists of two circular stone mills that were used to make flour. They were built in 1850 and restored in 2016. Admission is free. The interiors can currently be visited if you collect the key from the local police station or the cultural centre; an identity document must be left as a deposit. Check these visiting arrangements before your visit.
