Playa Flamenca: Coves, promenades and coastal route
Accommodation in Playa Flamenca
Playa Flamenca can be explored as a destination through its coves, coastal paths and local landmarks. For your planning, it is worth considering the individual coastal areas separately: Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca have different landscape features, while promenades and a coastal route create distinct connections between the areas. The tourist office and market also provide useful points of reference for finding your way around.
Coves with distinct character
Cala Mosca is a small cove. Two rocky areas flank it, giving it the appearance of a clearly defined cove. Cala Estaca is also a natural cove, with fine golden sand that gives it a different character. These two coastal settings can be distinguished by these features: Cala Mosca stands out for its rocky frame and defined shape, while Cala Estaca stands out for its sand. When planning your visit, you can focus on either the rocky surroundings or the sand, depending on which landscape appeals to you.
Beach and accessible access
Cala Estaca is also an accessible beach, and there are accessible parking spaces at Cala Estaca. As accessibility services may be subject to seasonal operating conditions, check their current status before your visit.
Promenades and coastal connections
An unusual sundial stands on the Playa Flamenca promenade. The promenade connects Cala Mosca with Cala Estaca. Another promenade along the shore of Cala Estaca extends as far as Cala Capitán. This gives you two distinct coastal connections: the link between the two coves, and the promenade that runs from the shore of Cala Estaca to Cala Capitán. These are different points of reference along the coast for planning your visit. The sundial is a distinctive feature of the Playa Flamenca promenade, while the named connections describe the routes between the coastal areas.
Coastal route and path types
The coastal route runs through Playa Flamenca along a path that was once used for driving livestock. The route as a whole includes urban sections, seaside promenades and wooden boardwalks; some sections of the promenades along the route have been adapted as paths. Its former use as a livestock-driving route distinguishes it from the promenade connections between Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca. As access conditions may change, check the route’s condition in advance if you plan to include it in your visit.
Finding your way around
Playa Flamenca Town Hall includes a tourist office, among other services. Municipal visitor services may change as administrative arrangements change; check before visiting whether the tourist office is still located there. A municipal market guide from 2019 lists Playa Flamenca for Saturday; later municipal notices also mention a market in the area. If you plan to visit the market, check the current market day in advance.
