Discover La Pobla de Vallbona
Accommodation in La Pobla de Vallbona
La Pobla de Vallbona combines natural attractions, trails and historic buildings. When choosing a hotel, you can consider whether you would prefer to spend your days of travel among forests and hiking, on cycling and walking paths, or exploring local history. The attractions each have a different focus—from a protected woodland area to an ethnological museum.
La Manguilla woodland and nature area
La Manguilla is a protected woodland area designated a Municipal Natural Area (Paraje Natural Municipal, PNM) in 2011 because of its ecological, botanical and geomorphological values and its value for public use. The Mediterranean woodland consists of Aleppo pines, with kermes oaks and mastic shrubs growing in the undergrowth. Both the tree species and the lower-growing vegetation shape the character of the area.
The area includes an accessible recreation area with a picnic area, toilets, a pétanque court and a children's area. The local SL-CV 111 hiking trail also passes through La Manguilla. Its four educational areas focus on the environmental systems of air, soil, water and biodiversity. Nature-based recreation and learning about different environmental systems thus go hand in hand, without requiring you to choose a particular route or activity.
Trails and archaeological traces
The Tos-Pelat SL-CV125 trail is a 475-metre route of low difficulty, suitable for hiking and mountain biking. It can be accessed via the La Pobla-Maquiva road, at the level of the Els Racons development, and ends at the summit of La Mola, where there is a sundial. Its length, stated difficulty level and endpoint give you clear guidance if you want to include a route with a clearly defined destination in your plans. As trail conditions can change, it is advisable to check the current situation before setting out.
The La Covatella archaeological complex offers a different focus: it preserves a 60-metre Iberian road with visibly preserved pavements. La Covatella is connected to the town centre by a combined cycling and walking path. While Tos Pelat is described in terms of its length, activity and summit endpoint, La Covatella stands out for its preserved historic road. This allows you to choose between a marked route and an archaeological site according to your interests.
Buildings and everyday culture
La Casa Gran is an 18th-century building that now houses the Ethnological Museum of La Pobla de Vallbona. Its original features that have been preserved include the wine cellar, a mill and an olive press. The collection includes period furniture, everyday objects and agricultural equipment. Visitors can also learn about the traditional production of olive oil and wine there. The building, collection and tools thus offer different perspectives on local everyday life and agricultural heritage.
Casa Bernal offers another historical perspective. The building, with its palace-like layout, is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC), a cultural heritage site. It hosts exhibitions and cultural events; the building also has a stage where public performances can take place. If an event is important to your travel plans, check the dates for your travel period. Together with La Casa Gran, Casa Bernal illustrates two different facets of cultural heritage: an ethnological museum focused on everyday life and agriculture, and a building for exhibitions and cultural events.
