Port Saplaya appeals to travelers looking for a beach, water activities and a townscape shaped by canals. The beach is known for its fine, golden-colored sand. The town also has an inland harbor that forms several canals, as well as low-rise homes in various colors. When comparing hotels in Port Saplaya, the beach, water sports, or the harbor and canals can each shape a different focus for your trip.

Beach and promenade

A seafront promenade with restaurants and a nautical club complements the sandy beach. This means that, alongside time at the beach, dining and maritime activities are also part of the coastal town’s appeal. The promenade is also a useful landmark: Pool Beach Saplaya is at its northern end, while the dog beach is in the southern part of Port Saplaya.

Beach facilities and accessibility

Beach facilities include access walkways, toilets, showers and a parking space suitable for people with reduced mobility. Reserved parking spaces, ramps and special walkways for wheelchairs are also available for accessible bathing and beaches. These facilities are located opposite the Al Campo roundabout in Port Saplaya. Some services may vary seasonally; check which facilities are available for your visit before traveling.

Residential area, harbor and canals

Port Saplaya was developed as a residential area in the 1970s. Low-rise homes in different colors shape the townscape, and the inland harbor also forms several canals. Thus, two distinctive features come together in descriptions of the town: its residential buildings and waterways. Along with the beach, they offer different points of interest to help you decide which side of Port Saplaya you would most like to explore on your trip.

Water sports and boat trips

Marina de Port Saplaya offers moorings and services related to boats and sailing. Water sports available there include surfing, sailing and SUP. Mediterranean Surf offers rentals, lessons and courses in surfing, SUP and longboarding. XSA Surf runs courses in surfing, paddle surfing, longboarding, shortboarding and bodyboarding. If you are looking for a particular type of board or a rental, it is worth checking the individual offerings: Mediterranean Surf explicitly lists rentals and lessons, while XSA Surf lists a range of different course options.

Jet Sky Saplaya offers jet ski rides with guidance from experienced professionals. Another option on the water is the boat trip from La Marina de Valencia to Port Saplaya, offered by Mundo Marino. As you should check the operators’ terms and the trip’s availability in advance, confirm your specific plans with the relevant operator before traveling.

Pool Beach Saplaya and dog beach

Pool Beach Saplaya is a beach club at Alboraya’s municipal swimming pool complex. It is ten meters from the sea, at the end of the northern beach promenade. The complex includes a swimming pool, a solarium and a terrace with a bar and cafeteria; a multi-purpose sports court is adjacent. The beach club operates seasonally, and some facilities may also vary by season.

The dog beach is in the southern part of Port Saplaya, between the northern mouth of the El Carraixet and the mouth of the La Marquesa irrigation canal. Its location clearly distinguishes it from the area at the northern end of the promenade, where Pool Beach Saplaya is located.

Fiestas del Carmen and getting there

The Fiestas del Carmen honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the patron saint of sailors. The celebrations include a maritime procession in honor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. They take place in the second or third week of July; check the specific dates before your trip.
