Ramdala offers travellers several different points of interest: the medieval Ramdala Church, activities, cooking classes and concerts, as well as Pomsi cider as part of a booked visit or tasting. The wider landscape includes wooded areas, the agricultural landscape of Ramdalaslätten and the archipelago. If you’re looking for a hotel for your trip to Ramdala, you can start by deciding whether church history, activity, events or the rural character will be the deciding factor in your plans.

Ramdala Church: medieval history

Ramdala Church is the only surviving medieval church in eastern Blekinge. Most of its fixed furnishings date from the 17th century; the original western tower was demolished as early as the 16th century. This means the building’s history spans different periods: the tower belongs to the building’s earlier history, while most of its fixed furnishings date from a later period. Since the beginning of the 20th century, church historians have classified the church as one of the so-called fortified churches. This designation reflects the classification made by the historians. The churchyard is also worth considering as a separate aspect of a visit: its oldest sections have medieval origins and are right next to the church. This makes it possible to view the history of the church building and that of the nearby churchyard as two distinct subjects.

Activity and getting your bearings

Ramdala’s exercise trail is behind Säbyvallen, is about 1.7 km long and is open to the public. Its approximate length gives you a clear idea of what to expect if you’re planning to exercise during your trip. Aktivitetsrundan Ramdala has its own background: Ramdala IF established it to mark its 85th anniversary, with the aim of promoting public health in the local area. The trail was inaugurated in 2024, and a map is available to help you find your way. The exercise trail’s stated length gives you a sense of its scale, while the map of Aktivitetsrundan helps you navigate.

Cooking classes, concerts and Pomsi cider

Cooking classes are held at Karlskrona Musteri in Ramdala. As the programme may change, check the dates if a class is important to your travel plans. Musteriet Live hosts concerts in the concert hall, the apple orchard or the restaurant. Concert dates and venues may also change. So it makes a difference whether you’re planning to attend a cooking class or a concert: for concerts, both the date and the venue may vary.

Pomsi cider can be purchased at Karlskrona Musteri as part of a booked study visit or tasting, for taking home. Purchases are limited to these booked arrangements; booking arrangements may change. Check with them in advance if you’d like to include the cider in your travel plans.

Landscape and travel planning

The wider landscape around historic Ramdala includes wooded areas, the agricultural landscape of Ramdalaslätten and the archipelago. Vallby Farm is located in the rural surroundings of Ramdala and is another named point of interest in the area.

When looking for a hotel, you can distinguish between enduring themes such as church history and landscape, and cooking classes and concerts that depend on specific dates. If a cooking class or concert is the reason for your trip, take the relevant dates into account; for cider purchases, the booking arrangements are important.
