Ronneby: Culture, Nature and History
Accommodation in Ronneby
Ronneby combines the history of a spa town with contemporary art, woodland paths and experiences by the water. At Ronneby Brunnspark, listed buildings meet Naturum Blekinge; in town, a medieval church and finds from a shipwreck tell stories of different eras.
Ronneby Brunnspark and Naturum
Ronneby Brunnspark originated as a spa resort in the early 18th century. The grounds cover 100 hectares and include 25 listed buildings. The park is free and open to the public. The cultural reserve is also home to Naturum Blekinge, which offers information, exhibitions and activities for the whole family.
The exhibitions at Naturum explore various landscapes and themes of Blekinge: Ronneby Brunnspark, the Bräkneån Valley, Blekinge’s sea, coast and archipelago, as well as ARK56 and outdoor life in Blekinge. You can reach Ronneby Travel Centre by train or bus. From there, it is about a ten-minute walk to the park and Naturum.
Contemporary art to see and try
Kulturcentrum Ronneby Konsthall presents 10 to 15 exhibitions of contemporary art, design and crafts each year. The works come from regional, national and international contexts. This means the programme goes beyond a single local perspective and offers changing ways to engage with contemporary art.
You can also get creative here: Konsthall offers opportunities to try enamel, textiles, printmaking and risography. The north art hall has an open workshop where visitors can work creatively with the materials and tools provided.
Church, local heritage museum and the story of the Gribshunden
The oldest parts of Heliga Kors kyrka date from the late 12th century; the church was completed in the 15th century. It houses Blekinge’s largest collection of Renaissance art. It is also the only surviving medieval building from 13th-century Ronneby.
Another glimpse into the local past awaits at the Möllebackagården local heritage museum in Ronneby’s cultural quarter. The house has preserved its interior. Its oldest section was built in the late 18th century and served as a home for various mill owners for a hundred years. Möllebackagården is open to the public in summer.
The story of a shipwreck is also present in Ronneby: the Gribshunden, the flagship of the Danish King Hans, sank off the coast of Ronneby in the summer of 1495. Kallvattenkuren presents authentic finds from the ship and the story behind the wreck. The Gribshundsleden trail is named after the 15th-century Danish warship and passes its discovery site.
Woodland paths and routes with different destinations
The Södra Brunnsskogen nature reserve lies south of Ronneby and close to Brunnspark. It includes a large, continuous woodland area with broadleaf trees and older pine forest, and serves as a walking area close to town. Paths continue a short distance south through the reserve to the coast.
Ekorrestigen is a 1.2-kilometre family trail through the forest, where visitors can discover animals and plants. The RonnebySlingor circular route starts and ends at Naturum. It passes through Ronneby town centre and nature reserves, by Bronze Age burial mounds and on to Ronneby harbour. The two routes offer different highlights: a short family trail focused on animals and plants, or a circular route with stops for town, nature and history.
Paddling, golf and water experiences
The Ronnebyån offers a 70-kilometre route for canoeing and kayaking through dense forest. Canoes and kayaks can be transported to any point along the river. The Karlsnäsgården–Ronneby section is considered a classic final stretch on the Ronnebyån.
Ronneby Golfklubb has a gently undulating 18-hole course in a natural setting, as well as a practice area, a restaurant and a pro shop. During the 2026 season, you can play by paying the green fee or with a valid membership and playing permit.
In the heart of Ronneby Brunnspark is Ronneby Brunnsbad, an outdoor water park. Its listed facilities include the 93-metre Magic Hole slide, a 25-metre pool for training and swimming, channels, bays, a lagoon and a current channel. Check current facility availability before your visit.
Map view and seasonal cuisine
Ronneby Live offers a map view of swimming spots, current events, hiking trails, water temperatures and playgrounds. This lets you see different topics for further exploration in one view. Next to Äggaboden Gårdsbutik, a restaurant serves seasonal food made with local ingredients; check whether it is open before your trip.
