Åkersjön between winter, hiking trails and nature
Accommodation in Åkersjön
Planning your trip to Åkersjön
Landmarks in Åkersjön include the ski area, trails by Önrun and Ansätten, the Oldflån–Ansätten area, and fishing opportunities at the lake and river. If you’re looking for a hotel for a trip to Åkersjön, first consider whether winter activities, hiking, flora or fishing should be your main focus. This will help you organize local destinations according to your travel interests.
Ski area and winter activities
The Åkersjön ski area has the Drivan restaurant, which serves coffee and meals. Åkersjön’s campsite is located right by the ski area. Organized ski trips were held in Åkersjön as early as the beginning of the 1930s. This historical detail adds a glimpse of local skiing history to the ski area’s present-day landmarks.
Jämtkraftspåret is an 18.6-kilometer route between Åkersjön and Bakvattnet. If you’re including it in your plans, check the trail grooming before your trip.
Hiking trails and current trail closure
Önruleden is considered an easy trail and offers far-reaching views. From the wind shelter to the summit of Önrun, the route is about 1.5 kilometers long. The marked Blomsterleden leads from the mountain village of Bakvattnet to Mount Ansätten and is six kilometers long. At about 1.5 kilometers from the wind shelter to the summit of Önrun, Önruleden is considerably shorter than the six-kilometer Blomsterleden from the mountain village of Bakvattnet to Mount Ansätten.
Blomsterleden is closed until further notice because damaged boardwalks could cause injuries. There are eleven digital flower stations along the trail, with signs and QR codes. Take the closure into account when planning, and check the trail status again before your trip. This keeps the trail description separate from the question of whether the trail can currently be visited.
Flora and Ansätten
Oldflån-Flån is a Natura 2000 site. In 2016, a total of 214 different species of flowers, shrubs and trees were recorded in the Oldflån–Ansätten area. Flower walks are held there every year. About 250 species of vascular plants have been recorded in the Ansätten area. The annual flower walks may be a reason to visit if you’re interested in the diversity of plant life in Oldflån–Ansätten.
Ansätten itself is also a prominent landmark: its highest peak is 1,090 meters above sea level. Together with Önruleden, which leads to the summit of Önrun, the area offers different options for hiking enthusiasts. When planning your route, the details for each trail are essential; Blomsterleden is also closed until further notice.
Fishing at the lake and river
In the Åkersjön fishing area, you can fish for char and trout in Lake Åkersjön. The Åkerån River offers almost ten kilometers of trout fishing. Ice fishing for char is also extensive on Åkersjön.
