Goldern: Village Trails, Building History and Activities
Accommodation in Goldern
Goldern is one of four villages in the inhabited area of Hasliberg and lies at 1,082 m above sea level. There are several distinct areas of interest to consider when planning your trip: local history and outdoor activities. Village trails and historic buildings shape the picture of Goldern, while activities in Hasliberg add seasonal options to the mix. If you are looking for a hotel in Goldern, you can decide based on your interest in building history, outdoor pursuits or a visit arranged in advance. The season, weather and advance inquiries play a role for some activities.
Local History and Trails
The Goldern village walk is a varied circular route featuring old farmhouses and buildings of architectural and historical interest. The Hasliberg Village Trail is marked with brown signposts; in Goldern, it marks the site of a former mill. This means that the houses and historic buildings, on the one hand, and the site of a former mill, on the other, offer distinct starting points for exploring local history.
One notable historic building is building no. 302 in Goldern. This stately residential house dates from 1778 and is four bays wide. Its details include a decorative corbel band and finely carved floral bas-reliefs on the window shutters and window posts. The Hasliberg Church Path was laid out in 1860 as a historic route from Goldern and Reuti to Meiringen. The history of transport also reaches back to this period: in 1859, the steep route from Goldern and Reuti to Meiringen was improved along its many hairpin bends so that it could be used by a vehicle if necessary.
Outdoor Activities
The Hasliberg Pump Track is located by the Grossenstein sports ground at 6085 Hasliberg Goldern. It is open daily from mid-April to the end of October, weather permitting. There is no parking at the pump track itself; visitors should use the car park at the Twing cable car station. When planning, therefore, take into account both the seasonal opening period and the weather dependency, as well as the stated parking option.
At Hasliberg bathing lake, there are opportunities for swimming, sunbathing lawns and a slackline. A special sandy beach area is provided for children. In addition, four summer evenings featuring music are held there in collaboration with the village committee and Haslital Tourism. Dates may change; check the specific dates before planning your visit around them.
Short hikes on the Ursifluh circular trail run mostly through the forest and offer many beautiful viewpoints of the Bernese Alps. In winter, access and temporary closures may vary. Conditions therefore differ from those at the pump track: there, a fixed opening period applies and weather conditions matter, whereas for the short hikes, winter access is the main consideration.
Plan Visits and Shopping
Stéphanie and Hans von Bergen's farm shop is located at Blatti 333f, 6085 Hasliberg Goldern. Its products include Hääggen Alpine cheese AOP, seasonal Mutschli cheese, dried meat, meat and bread. The Ecole d’Humanité offers campus tours Monday to Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. by prior arrangement. Times may change. So inquire in advance and arrange your preferred time. This allows you to plan the campus tour as a separate activity, rather than treating it like a walk or tour that you can take spontaneously.
