Remüs (Ramosch) combines archaeological traces and church architecture with a striking terraced landscape. The available routes also offer different experiences: they lead across open slopes and meadows, through woodland, or along the Inn. If you are looking for a hotel in Remüs, these different facets of the village can help you decide what to focus on during your stay.

Cultural History in Ramosch

Bronze and Iron Age settlements stood on the rocky summit of Mottata near Ramosch between 1600 and 400 BC. Mottata is therefore also a site of early settlement history. As of 1 January 2026, the Reformed Church of S. Florinus and Mottata were classified as Category A cultural property protection objects.

The Church of Sonch Flurin in Ramosch is protected as a cantonal monument and is open to the public at all times. On the left in the choir is a pre-Reformation tabernacle. Florinus Church is one of the largest Late Gothic churches in Graubünden; the ribs of its choir vault form a “spindle star” pattern. These architectural details give a visit to the church a distinctive focus.

At the entrance to Val Sinestra lies the castle ruin of Tschanüff, one of the most imposing ruins in Graubünden. The castle was abandoned in 1780. The KrimiSpass mystery trail in Ramosch includes a detour to the ruin. A 2024 tourism brochure describes the trail as an experience available year-round; check locally whether it is available for your visit date.

Terraced Landscapes and Trails

Historic field terraces continue to shape the landscape around Ramosch. The area around the village has drought-adapted, almost steppe-like vegetation, considered unique in Switzerland. The terraces and distinctive vegetation are a landscape highlight alongside the architectural and cultural monuments.

The routes between Vnà and Ramosch pass through different types of landscape. The winter hiking trail crosses the open southern slope through a snow-covered terraced landscape. The Vnà–Ramosch via veglia route first crosses open meadows below Vnà and then enters the Bos-cha Grischa forest above Ramosch. This lets you choose between a trail through open slopes and meadows and one that includes a forest section.

The snowshoe tour Ramosch–Tulai–Vnà starts in Ramosch. It is not marked and is undertaken at your own risk; check winter conditions before setting out. For the last four kilometres down to Ramosch, it is recommended that you bring a sled so you can travel the stretch by sled rather than on foot.

Other routes also offer distinct highlights. The Ramosch–Sent route starts with a steep climb from the village to Motta da Ramosch and continues via Vnà, Alp Muranza, Sent and Sur En before returning to Ramosch. The Sent–Val Sinestra–Vnà–Ramosch stage connects the Engadine villages of Sent, Vnà and Ramosch with Val Sinestra. Regional bike route 442 passes through Ramosch, among other places.

The route from Ramosch to Sur En follows the Inn in the direction of Sur En. At Panas-ch, there is a fire pit along the route with firewood, tables and benches; the availability of such outdoor facilities may vary seasonally. Near Ramosch, an optional extra loop complements the Scuol–Martina cross-country ski trail. The trail and snow conditions are subject to seasonal changes.

Getting There and Planning Your Stay

Ramosch is located directly on the Engadiner Strasse H27. The PostBus connects Ramosch with Vnà, Scuol and Martina every hour. Check the timetable for your specific journey.
