Pany is a village in the central Prättigau region of the Canton of Graubünden and has been part of the municipality of Luzein since 1892. This hillside settlement of scattered homes lies on the Küblis–St. Antönien road. The area is primarily agricultural; tourism developed alongside it during the 20th century. If you are looking for a hotel in Pany, the season can help guide you toward suitable activities: summer hiking trails, winter walks and snowshoe tours offer different options.

Hiking Trails and Winter Tours

The trail network varies by season: in summer, Pany has more than 70 km of well-signposted hiking trails. For winter, 30 km of well-prepared and signposted winter hiking trails are described. How well the winter trails are currently prepared depends on conditions. There is also a considerable selection of marked snowshoe tours; conditions and availability may vary.

Skiing and Winter Landscapes

The Pany ski lift has four different runs for beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders. A modern snowmaking system can make artificial snow on some of the runs; its use depends on conditions and operations. The children's ski lift can be used free of charge outside ski school hours. As this operating policy may change, check it before you travel.

Cross-country ski route 269 Pany passes through open spruce forest, across meadows and by scattered individual farms. The route offers views of central and upper Prättigau; visibility depends on the weather. The landscape along this route combines forest, open areas and individual farms, without being defined by a single viewpoint.

Circular Trail and Mountain Bike Route

The 699 Pany circular trail climbs to ChrĂĽz at 2,196 m above sea level and passes by Stelsersee. Water lilies and numerous dragonflies shape the natural landscape there, although flowering and sightings are seasonal. The circular trail continues through Scurzwald and across the GrĂĽsttobel suspension bridge to Tratza. Conditions at the bridge and along the route can vary by season; check conditions before setting out.

For a mountain bike ride, route 323 Alp Valpun starts in Pany. It offers panoramic views of the Rätikon range and follows a rideable singletrack west toward Stels. Views of the mountain range depend on the weather; trail surfaces and conditions can change. Check conditions before setting off.

Nature Play Trail and Swimming Pool

The Pany–St. Antönien nature play trail is approximately 7 km long. Five play stations feature stories and games about Pfifner the marmot, Granita the chamois and Malva the butterfly. There are barbecue areas along the trail at “uf dr Rüfi” and Holderboden. Follow the applicable fire safety rules when using them.

In summer, the water temperature at Pany swimming pool rises above 20°C. The pool has a separate children's paddling pool with a fountain. The swimming pool restaurant is also open to hikers, walkers and passersby who have not paid to enter the pool. Operating conditions may change; check the latest information before visiting.

Village History and Local Refreshments

Pany was first mentioned in a document in 1411 under the name Pynnuew. Most of the local place names are Romansh and preserve traces of the region's early modern language shift to German following the Walser migration. A castle site with small finds dating from the 13th to 15th centuries is located near the settlement of Rosenberg. Pany's church was built in 1705. This local and linguistic history adds a distinct cultural perspective to the village's nature and route offerings.

The Tratzabeizli serves homemade cakes and a platter of local salsiz and fresh mountain cheese. Opening hours and offerings may change; check the latest details before visiting.
