Atzmännig gives Goldingen links to winter sports and summer activities. There are also hiking trails with different route types and the history of the parish church of St. Nicholas. If Goldingen is an option for your hotel stay, these specific features can help you assess the destination according to your own interests.

Atzmännig in winter and summer

The Atzmännig ski area in Goldingen has been operating for beginners and advanced skiers since the 1961/62 winter season. Whether it can operate in any given winter depends on conditions. Atzmännig has been a well-known and established summer amusement park since 1977. The amusement park has 14 attractions; individual facilities may change.

The summer toboggan run at Atzmännig is 700 metres long. Check operating conditions before your ride. The area’s history also includes the construction and opening of Switzerland’s first summer toboggan run here. This gives you both a specific track length and a historical connection to the toboggan run for your planning, without implying a specific operating date.

Choose hikes by route and focus

The Spatz Männi Adventure Trail is a one-hour children’s hiking trail with many play stations. It leads from the Atzmännig mountain station to the valley station. The Gold Trophy circular hike, by contrast, runs between Goldingen and Neuhaus and passes nine golden play boxes. Both routes feature special stops along the way; the Gold Trophy is also described as a circular route.

The Lädeli Tour is an 8.7-kilometre circular route through Goldingen and Egligen to Chrinnen. It passes many small shops, most of which are self-service shops. If you plan to visit specific shops, check their availability in advance, as this may change.

The Aabachtal nature experience area is located close to Goldingen, between Goldingen, Neuhaus and Uznach. There are hiking trails and information boards there. Aabachtal adds another nearby point of interest for hiking to the routes described above.

The parish church of St. Nicholas and the route to it

The parish church of St. Nicholas in Goldingen was built in 1784 as a new, larger church. Its tower dates back to the first church building, completed in 1684. In 1721, the tower was altered based on the design of the Church of the Holy Cross in Uznach. This makes it possible to distinguish chronologically between the history of the present church building and the earlier history of the tower.

A hike rated easy leads from Egligen via Goldingen and St. Jakob to the Catholic Church of St. Nicholas. The route is 9.98 kilometres long, climbs 185 metres and runs at an elevation of 480 to 742 metres. The church is marked as a place of worship along the route. These details give you concrete points of reference for assessing the hike, without specifying a walking time.

Getting to Atzmännig
