Kümmertshausen: Hiking and Wellness
Accommodation in Kümmertshausen
Kümmertshausen is a village in the canton of Thurgau, in the Weinfelden district and the municipality of Erlen. It lies 481 metres above sea level, northwest of Amriswil, and is a farming village set away from the main transport routes. For planning your trip, the hiking routes and the SPA and wellness offerings at Wellnessfarm In Harmony provide some practical starting points.
Local History and the Municipality of Erlen
Kümmertshausen was mentioned in 774 as Chuniberteswilari and in 1245 as Cuonbrechsuser. Until 1798, the village belonged to the Malefizgericht Sommeri (Sommeri criminal court). In ecclesiastical terms, Kümmertshausen was always affiliated with Sommeri; the village became Protestant. Since 1 January 1995, Kümmertshausen has belonged to the municipality of Erlen.
Another historical connection at the municipal level can be found in the village of Eppishausen. A castle stands there, where Baron Josef von Lassberg lived from 1818 to 1838. The castle was visited, among others, by Uhland, Schwab, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Jakob Grimm, Zschokke, Wessenberg and Oken. At the foot of the hill, there is also a very old row of houses along the main road. While Kümmertshausen was already mentioned in 774 and 1245, Lassberg lived in the castle in Eppishausen many centuries later, from 1818 to 1838.
