Langrickenbach combines a rural character with hiking trails, a protected church and historic buildings. The municipality lies on the eastern foothills of the SeerĂĽcken ridge, not far from Lake Constance. It is considered a typical rural municipality in Thurgau; agriculture continues to play an important role throughout the municipality. Langrickenbach is a good starting point for hikes through the traditional Thurgau countryside. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay here, you can consider whether hiking, scenery or historic buildings should be your main focus.

Hiking, panoramic views and cycling tours

The Langrickenbach Panorama Trail offers views of Lake Constance and the German shore, and passes through the protected village centre of Herrenhof. The scenery and historic village layout are both defining features of this hike. Above the hamlet of Zuben, a barbecue area by the old reservoir offers a place to relax and enjoy views of the lake. You can plan a break there.

For cycling tours, the cantonal Seerücken cycle route passes through Langrickenbach. Several listed half-timbered houses can be discovered on hikes and cycling tours in the municipality. This means that both walking routes and cycling tours offer a connection to local architectural heritage. Langrickenbach is also served by the Amriswil–Münsterlingen–Kreuzlingen postbus route. Church and historic architecture

The Evangelical Church in Langrickenbach is a historic building. Its present form dates from 1897 to 1899; it was renovated inside and out in 1997. It is under legally binding protection and is classified as “particularly valuable” in the Thurgau inventory of notable buildings.

Selsmüli in Schönenbaumgarten is a former mill that was converted into a residential building and workshop. Its appearance as a whole dates from the 18th and 19th centuries; it is classified as “noteworthy.” The former Rössli inn is a long, multipurpose half-timbered building. At the rear is a similarly half-timbered annex, supported by turned oak columns dating from the 18th century. The Rössli’s former use as an inn and its architectural form give it a different character from the converted mill.

Schlössli Herrenhof is privately owned and can be viewed from the outside. Langrickenbach was first mentioned in a document in 889 as “Rihchinbahc”; the settlement of Lenzwil in the hamlet of Dünnershaus has been documented in writing since 838. Langrickenbach is also located on the Old St. Gallen Road. From the Middle Ages until the 19th century, this important route connected the episcopal city of Constance with the Abbey of St. Gall.

MĂĽlibach and farm shop

The MĂĽlibach is an open stream and a local recreation area. The renaturalised MĂĽlibach/Stichbach habitat provides suitable living conditions for fish, crayfish, beetles, birds and amphibians. Which animals can be observed may vary with the seasons.

In DĂĽnnershaus, the stadifarm farm shop offers apricots from its own production as well as homemade jams, schnapps and liqueur made from its own fruit. The range and seasonal availability may vary; check which products are currently on offer before your visit.
