Landscape and Outdoor Activities
From Dompierre, open views stretch across the Broye plain, the Jura and Lake Neuchâtel. The peaceful, green surroundings are ideal for hiking and other outdoor leisure activities. The heights between Lucens and Henniez and the location a few kilometres from Romont are also useful for finding your bearings in the region; both details describe the broader geographical setting of the village.
Hiking and Cycling on the Green Route
Farzin Rando in Dompierre VD offers three routes for mountain bikes, e-mountain bikes and gravel bikes. Hikers can use the green route. It is 8.4 kilometres long, accessible to all ability levels, and can be used on foot or by mountain bike, e-mountain bike or gravel bike. When planning, it is worth checking the surface: 95 percent of the route follows paved roads or gravel forest paths. The remaining five percent runs along a farm track, whose surface is poorer in places and may have ruts. The length and mix of surfaces provide different details to consider when choosing a route, without specifying a walking or cycling time. Check Farzin Rando’s current programme and route information before setting out.
Alpacas and Overnight Stays at Ferme Tenthorey
At the Ferme Tenthorey farm, Alpagaga offers guided walks in nature with several alpacas. Afterwards, visitors receive a hot or cold drink and can discover alpaca and farm products in the lounge. Activities, drinks and product displays may change; if interested, ask the provider directly about the current arrangements.
Ferme Tenthorey also offers agritourism accommodation in a fully equipped chalet and at a parking space for vans. Access to all amenities is stated for both options. If you are considering these accommodation options as part of your trip, confirm availability and conditions directly with the farm.
Churches and Architectural History
The Temple de Dompierre is distinguished by its orientation and stone bell tower. The present-day church was built in 1839 on the site of a 12th-century Notre-Dame church; extension and rebuilding projects gave the Temple its current form. The predecessor church was initially dedicated to Saint Peter and was placed under the patronage of Notre-Dame before the 15th century. This sequence reveals the different historical stages of church construction in the village.
Another religious landmark is the church of the Monastery of the Most Holy and Life-Giving Trinity in Dompierre VD. It was consecrated in 2001 by Archbishop Innokenty (Vassiliev), Archbishop of Chersonesus. Together with the Temple, it represents different chapters in Dompierre’s religious history.
Farm Products and Picnic Area
Ferme Tenthorey produces cold-pressed rapeseed oil and packaged rapeseeds from its own harvest. The rapeseed meets IP-Suisse quality standards and is grown without pesticides. Product availability may vary. The picnic area at the Refuge de Dompierre VD is located on trail no. 6 of the Romont Région hiking map. Check the latest information about the area and whether a reservation may be required in advance.
