Ecublens Vd offers several clearly distinct themes for a stay: landscapes between the Sorge and the Venoge, walking trails with different points of interest, and cultural attractions featuring architecture and local history.

Landscapes between rivers and Alpine panoramas

The municipality of Ecublens lies between the Sorge to the east and the Venoge to the west. Ecublens is situated on three moraines and offers panoramas of the Savoy Alps, the Vaud Alps and, to the west, the Jura. The rivers provide an east–west orientation; the moraines and panoramas add a sense of the terrain and distant views. Another facet of the landscape is the municipal forest, which covers around 20 hectares and is used by walkers from surrounding villages.

Walking trails and connections

Those wishing to compare walks can choose between two options: one leads from the historic centre of Motty to the Plaine du Croset; the other passes through the rural hamlet of Renges and follows the meanders of the Venoge. The choice is therefore between a route linking the village centre with the Plaine du Croset and a walk through a hamlet and riverside landscape.

In the Croset district, a path for pedestrians and cyclists connects the heart of the district, starting from Chemin du Stand, with Chemin des Vignes and Chemin des Crêts. The Voie verte offers a different scale: it is a sustainable-mobility connection between Ecublens and Denges. After work to repair the Pont Rouge was completed in December 2022, the Voie verte was reopened.

Architecture, culture and local history

The Rolex Learning Center in Ecublens was designed by the internationally renowned Japanese architecture firm SANAA. It is open to the public every day from 7 a.m. to midnight.

The Galerie du Pressoir is housed in a municipal building dating from the 18th century and now hosts various cultural events throughout the year. It offers 100 square metres of exhibition space and 40 metres of exhibition walls; 60 seats are available for concerts and conferences. These figures reflect the different uses: the floor space and wall length are for exhibitions, while the seats are for concerts and conferences.

The Château de la Mothe, also known as the Château de la Motte, consists of the remains of a very old fortified camp with an earthen rampart and ditches. The communal bread oven, dating from 1701, is still used for various occasions. The historic traces are therefore different: the château centres on the remains of fortifications, while the oven represents the continued use of a shared facility.

At the footbridge over the Venoge, striking the vertical bars produces the sounds of a giant harp. Parc du Mont Souplia has a children's playground.
