Flurlingen lies between the Rhine and the western slope of Cholfirst. Cholfirst and the transmission tower

Cholfirst has an extensive, well-marked network of hiking trails. The Cholfirst transmission tower is located within the municipality of Flurlingen. Its steel structure is 96 metres high; the viewing platform for hikers is 42 metres above the ground. The current facility was built and commissioned by the former PTT in 1973.

Hiking routes with different points of interest

The Three Towers Tour on Cholfirst is a 16.2-kilometre circular hike. It starts at Feuerthalen railway station and leads to the Cholfirst transmission tower in the municipality of Flurlingen. The “Viewing Towers: Cholfirst” route leads to Flurlingen and continues to the bridge by Neuhausen railway station. ViaRhenana Route 60 also passes through Flurlingen, on the Schaffhausen–Rheinau stage. This offers a circular hike, a continuation to the bridge near Neuhausen railway station, and a route forming part of the named stage as distinct route options.

Riverside lawn

The riverside lawn in Flurlingen is open to the public and can be used free of charge. Facilities include showers, toilets and changing rooms. For getting there, the municipality recommends public transport or cycling; there is no parking at the riverside lawn. If you plan to include this spot in your stay by the Rhine, you can prepare your journey accordingly.

Village history and Hilari

Flurlingen was first mentioned in 876 under the name “Flurlingin”. In 1841, it became an independent municipality again, having previously been joined with Dachsen and Uhwiesen. The podcast “1,150 Years of Flurlingen” offers an audio journey through 1,150 years of village history.

Hilari is celebrated every January by people from Flurlingen, Uhwiesen, Feuerthalen and Langwiesen. The recurring Hilari programme includes the Flurlingen evening, an entertainment event featuring music, dancing, food, drinks and a bar. Wine and sporting activities

The historic vineyard in Flurlingen has been managed according to biodynamic principles by 8247 since 2020. Wines from the vineyard can be tasted at the Zwirnerei. Regular tasting evenings are held there with fellow winemakers and food professionals.

The Cholfirst tennis facility in Flurlingen has four clay courts with floodlighting. If you would like to play there, check the facility information again in advance.
