Fayetteville offers trails through the Ozarks landscape, as well as gardens, historic sites, and cultural attractions. If you’re looking for a hotel in Fayetteville, it helps to decide what you want to focus on first: would you like to spend most of your time biking or hiking, exploring gardens, or planning for theater and evening entertainment? The different places and activities give you concrete options to consider.

Biking and Hiking Trails in the Ozarks

Natural-surface trails let hikers and mountain bikers experience the Ozarks landscape up close. At Lake Fayetteville Trail, you can choose between different types of paths: it includes a 5.5-mile paved loop and a 6.9-mile natural-surface trail. The lengths and surfaces offer a practical basis for planning: a shorter paved loop or a longer trail with a natural surface.

Lake Fayetteville Trail connects to the Razorback Greenway. The Razorback Regional Greenway is a paved multi-use trail that begins in Fayetteville. At Kessler Mountain, various loop trails wind through valleys, along rock cliffs, and over the ridge of Kessler Mountain Regional Park. Together, they total more than 10 miles; this figure refers to the trails collectively, not to a single loop.

Kessler Mountain Regional Park also includes 387 acres of Ozark forest, acquired for conservation and outdoor recreation. This gives the area a clear connection to both conservation and recreation, in addition to its trails. The Kessler family’s stone wine cellar and well are also still visible on Kessler Mountain.

Gardens, Springs, and Green Spaces

The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks features 12 themed gardens across 8 cultivated acres. Its Butterfly Garden is a Monarch Waystation certified and registered by Monarch Watch. The Rock and Water Garden represents an Ozarks mountain stream, with a grotto, waterfalls, and pools as part of its design. The garden thus brings together different focal points: themed garden areas and a landscape featuring water.

Wilson Park includes a spring-fed pond. The Castle in the park encloses an active natural spring. Lower Ramble combines woodland, trails, access to a creek, and an art garden. The Ramble hosts live performances, pop-up art exhibitions, community celebrations, and outdoor activities year-round. If you’re planning your trip around a specific performance or event, check the current schedule; individual events may change.

History and Art

The collections at the Clinton House Museum explore the lives of Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton during their time in Fayetteville. The museum also preserves the historic home’s role in the city’s history. The well-preserved house dates to 1931 and is built in the Tudor Revival style. A visit thus brings together biographical history and a specific architectural example.

Terra Studios offers a distinct connection to art: it is the home of the Original Bluebird of Happiness. The Art Park features sculptures, murals, art installations, fountains, a maze, picnic areas, and walking trails. Its range extends from individual artworks and installations to trails and landscaped areas in the park.

Theater, City Life, and Local Experiences

TheatreSquared is a professional nonprofit theater in downtown Fayetteville. Its purpose-built, 50,000-square-foot theater is located at 477 W. Spring St. The theater produces plays, musicals, and community programs throughout the year; its schedule varies by season. Its Commons Bar & Café is TheatreSquared’s restaurant and gathering place. Check the current schedule if you’re planning a theater evening.

Dickson Street offers live music, performing arts, dining, and nightlife, with events held there year-round. Individual businesses and event dates may change. The Historic Downtown Square and Dickson Street are connected by a walkable corridor lined with restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, and cultural attractions. George's Majestic Lounge is described as the oldest and longest-running club and live music venue in Arkansas.

The Fayetteville Ale Trail is a craft beer tour established in 2013 and described as the original craft beer tour in Arkansas. A purchase at each participating brewery location is required for every passport stamp; you can redeem nine stamps at the Fayetteville Visitors Center for a free prize. Participating locations may change, so check ahead to see which ones are currently included.
