City history at the museum and beyond
Through its permanent and changing exhibitions, the Fort Morgan Museum tells the story of Fort Morgan and Morgan County. The exhibits also explore the region’s agricultural roots. The museum also honors Glenn Miller, whose hometown is Fort Morgan. If you’re interested in Historic Main Street, you can attend a historical presentation offered by museum staff.
To get there via I-76, take Exit 80 and head south on Main Street to the Fort Morgan Museum. Fort Morgan is also located along the historic Overland Trail.
Historic buildings and bridges
The history of Warner Farm dates back to a Tree Claim filed by George W. Warner in 1881 in what is now Morgan County. The Warner Farm house is one of the few original houses still standing in Fort Morgan. It is part of a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This site highlights both the region’s early land history and a preserved historic building.
Another notable structure is Rainbow Bridge. It is Colorado’s only bridge of this type built using the Marsh arch design, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge is accessible to pedestrians only.
Art and local events
CACE presents art exhibitions throughout the year and hosts more than twenty local events annually. Art and events offer another way to experience local culture, alongside the museum’s historical exhibits. If you’re visiting Fort Morgan for a specific CACE event, check its date before your trip.
Nature trails and Riverside Park
Fort Morgan has 5.5 miles of nature trails. In Riverside Park, the Nature Trails run along the South Platte River and branch into several paths. Riverside Park includes 300 acres of riverside parkland; disc golf is also one of the recreational activities available there.
Downtown City Park also has a playground.
Golf, scenic routes and motorsports
Quail Dunes Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 course. Its length ranges from 5,300 to 6,600 yards. The property includes 57 acres of natural area; in 1994, the course was designated an Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary.
Pawnee Pioneer Trails is a 128-mile byway. The drive along Pawnee Pioneer Trails takes three hours. For a different kind of motorsport, visit I-76 Speedway: the track is a 0.25-mile banked dirt oval. Races are held there throughout the year. Check the date of the race you want to attend before traveling.
