Discover Dillon: Trails, Music and the Market
Accommodation in Dillon
There are different ways to plan a stay in Dillon, with options including music events, offerings at Dillon Marina, trails along Dillon Reservoir, nature and local history, and the weekly Farmers Market. Season and day of the week matter when planning. Consider in advance whether an event evening, time on the trails or a visit to the market matters most to you.
Music and Events
The Dillon Amphitheater hosts free concerts and community events. Mountain Music Mondays offers free music there every Monday evening in summer. The program may vary by season; if you’re setting aside an evening specifically for music, check the current schedule before your trip. This helps distinguish this summer offering from other music dates in Dillon.
Sailing Options and Reservoir Rules
Dillon Marina offers pontoon boat and sailboat rentals. It also offers sailing courses, lessons and tours. The marina holds sailing regattas on weekends. Rental availability is seasonal and depends on conditions. If boat rentals are important for your trip, check availability in advance. Swimming, diving, water skiing and other water sports involving contact with the water are prohibited at Dillon Reservoir. Check the applicable rules before planning any water activity.
Nature, Trails and Local History
Dillon Nature Preserve offers mountain and lake views, as well as wildflowers. It is open to pedestrians, snowshoers and cross-country skiers in summer and winter; winter access may depend on conditions. Trail information panels cover local history, trees, wildlife and native plants. A visit to the preserve therefore combines scenery with information about nature and history.
More than seven paved miles along Dillon Reservoir are part of Summit County’s trail system and are used for hiking and biking. The Old Dillon Reservoir Trail connects to the lake that supplied the old town with drinking water. The two places offer different historical points of interest: the panels at the preserve cover several local topics, while the Old Dillon Reservoir Trail also connects to the lake and its former role in supplying drinking water to the old town.
Farmers Market and Weekly Schedule
The Dillon Farmers Market is held weekly in Dillon Town Park; its seasonal dates vary from year to year. Vendors sell seasonal fruit and vegetables, baked goods, specialty foods, handmade goods and crafts. There is live music at the market every Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; performers and dates vary by season. Check the current market dates if you want to plan your visit around it. The two music offerings differ clearly in the weekly schedule: Mountain Music Mondays is a summer event on Monday evenings, while the music at the market is offered on Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Another Activity
Lake Dillon Disc Golf Course is a free public course with 18 holes. Alongside the paved trails around the reservoir, it offers a different kind of sporting option: a course with a set number of holes, compared with the trail system for hiking and biking.
