When looking for a hotel in Frisco, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on during your trip: cross-country skiing and tubing offer a different experience from summer activities on trails and the water or a visit to historic buildings.

Seasons and scenery

Frisco Adventure Park is located in the Peninsula Recreation Area. There, trails run along the shores of Frisco Bay and Dillon Reservoir. In summer, they’re suitable for hiking and biking; in winter, for Nordic activities. The scenery and available activities therefore vary noticeably by season—a useful starting point for planning your trip.

Frisco Bay Marina also offers seasonal opportunities on the water: it provides boat rentals, paddle sports and seasonal moorings. Water activities are seasonal; operating conditions may vary. If you plan to take part in one of these activities, check availability in advance.

Winter: cross-country skiing or tubing

Frisco Nordic Center has 30 kilometers of trails for skate skiing and classic cross-country skiing. In winter, tubing is available at Frisco Adventure Park. These are two distinct winter sports: on the trails, you can choose between two styles of cross-country skiing, while tubing is a different activity. If you’re planning your stay around a specific winter interest, these differences can help with your plans.

Summer trails and tours

In summer, Frisco Adventure Park offers a free bike park. In addition, Frisco maintains and operates 16 miles of trails for recreational use throughout town. Trail conditions may vary by season. The Peninsula Recreation Area also has a 27-hole disc golf course—another way to enjoy time outdoors.

For a short hike, consider the Rainbow Lake Trail: it’s described as an easy hike of approximately 0.75 miles each way and begins at a trailhead on Second Avenue in Frisco. The trail connects with Miners Creek Road, the Peaks Trail to Breckenridge and the Masontown/Mount Royal Trail. The Peaks Trail is a longer route: it runs 7.8 miles one way from Frisco to Breckenridge. These details make the difference between a short hike and a route connecting two towns clear.

Local history at Frisco Historic Park

Frisco Historic Park is located downtown. You can explore its historic buildings and the Schoolhouse Museum on your own. The original buildings include the Schoolhouse Museum; the park features artifacts, exhibits and photographs about Frisco’s past. Admission to Frisco Historic Park is free. Check the latest admission information before your visit.

Frisco Schoolhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Together, the buildings, exhibits and this historic designation give a visit to the park a clear connection to local history.

Wassail Days in November and December 2026

From November 28 through December 6, 2026, Wassail Days features tastings of various kinds of wassail—a hot, spiced apple punch—at more than 50 shops in Frisco. The November 28 program includes a tree lighting and fireworks at Frisco Historic Park. If you’re planning a trip for this time, keep the event dates in mind.
