Winamac offers several specific points of interest for planning a trip: Winamac Town Park, with its walking trail and sports courts; the Memorial Bridge between two parks; and the Panhandle Pathway, a longer route for non-motorized recreational activities. Also worth noting are the 4-H Fair, held in July, and the Isis Theatre, with its history at the same location. These destinations differ in character: Town Park focuses on scenery and a variety of activities, the Pathway is a longer route, and the Fair is an event. You can plan your trip around the theme that brings you to Winamac.

Town Park on the Tippecanoe River

Winamac Town Park is located on a natural peninsula in a horseshoe-shaped bend of the Tippecanoe River. The river bend and peninsula shape the park’s landscape. The park has a walking trail and playground equipment, as well as basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts. The amenities range from a walk and play opportunities to three specific court sports. When planning a visit, you can think of the river setting and the sports or play facilities as different aspects of the park.

Memorial connects two parks

The Memorial Bridge adds a direct river crossing to the park. This suspension footbridge crosses the Tippecanoe River and connects Artesian Well Park with Winamac Town Park within the Winamac Town Park system. It is a single-span structure, 200 feet long and five feet wide. The dimensions show that it is considerably longer than it is wide. Its role in the park system is also useful for orientation: Memorial connects exactly the two parks named above.

Panhandle Pathway: a longer route

The Panhandle Pathway is a 22-mile rail trail. It runs from Winamac in Pulaski County almost to France Park near Logansport in Cass County, and the route also passes through Winamac. It was developed for hiking, biking, and other non-motorized recreational activities. Hiking is therefore explicitly among its intended uses. Compared with the Town Park walking trail, its length is an important difference to consider when planning. The Pathway offers views of farmland and a designated prairie preserve. Both the longer route and the landscapes mentioned are central features of this trail.

4-H Fair and Isis Theatre

Event dates and local history can also factor into choosing when to travel. The 4-H Fair takes place in July at Winamac Town Park. If the event is a reason for your trip, check the specific dates before making plans; the month alone does not identify a particular day of the event. Winamac’s Isis Theatre also offers a connection to local history: it has been operating at the same location since October 1, 1936. The two time references differ: the Fair is associated with July, while the theatre’s history is tied to a specific date.
