Discover Northwood
Accommodation in Northwood
Northwood offers a variety of ways to spend your time: The Worth County Fairgrounds bring together play and recreation with a statue tour representing all of Worth County. At the Top of Iowa Welcome Center, a paved path and two memorials share the grounds. There is also golf in Northwood and Art Farm Iowa outside the city. You can prioritize these destinations based on whether recreation, sports, art, or memorials matter most to you.
Recreation at the Worth County Fairgrounds
The Worth County Fairgrounds sit on a 19-acre site on the northwest side of Northwood, Iowa, and offer a variety of facilities for visitors year-round. A path through the grounds leads to a pavilion, a playground, a water feature, fitness equipment, and a statue tour representing every city in Worth County. This brings play, exercise, and depictions of the entire county together in one place. The statue tour draws attention beyond Northwood to the cities of Worth County, giving it a different focus from the other recreational facilities.
Art and agriculture at Art Farm Iowa
Art Farm Iowa is located on a family farm in Worth County, two miles outside Northwood. This art- and agriculture-focused attraction covers 10 acres and includes a gallery and event building, walking paths with sculptures, a ceramics and glass center, and a mural garden. Its focus differs from that of the fairgrounds: Here, art and agriculture set the scene, while the fairgrounds bring together recreational activities and representations of Worth County’s cities. If you’re especially interested in creative and agricultural themes, you can consider Art Farm Iowa a destination of its own outside Northwood.
Path and memorials at the Top of Iowa Welcome Center
The Top of Iowa Welcome Center is an official Iowa Welcome Center. A paved path winds through the grounds. There are also two memorials with different themes: the Patriotic Rock shares stories of women who have served in the military. The Blue Star Memorial honors all men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces. The difference lies in their focus: The Patriotic Rock centers on women’s stories, while the Blue Star Memorial honors all men and women in the armed forces. The path adds another way to experience the grounds alongside the memorials.
The Welcome Center also has ample parking for RVs, tour buses, and vehicles with trailers. For visitors traveling in any of these vehicle types, this is a practical feature of the location.
Golf and disc golf
The Northwood Country Club offers a well-established public 9-hole golf course. The City of Northwood’s Park & Rec Department lists disc golf as one of its activities. These are different ways to enjoy sports: The Country Club has a public golf course with a specified number of holes, while disc golf is included in the city’s activity offerings. If you’re considering golf or disc golf as part of your plans, you can view them as separate options rather than treating them as the same offering. Northwood thus has a specific course for traditional golf as well as a separately listed disc golf activity.
