Explore Naples: Nature, Water and Recreation
Accommodation in Naples
In Naples, experiences range from nature trails and wildlife viewing to swimming and paddling, boat rides, and recreational activities on the Causeway. A museum and the Maine Blues Festival also add their own distinctive touches. The places and activities offer different ways to shape your stay.
Nature at Sebago Lake State Park
Sebago Lake State Park has a camping entrance in Naples. Its trails run, among other places, along the Songo River and the north shore of Sebago Lake. Deer and bald eagles are frequently spotted along the trails. For travelers who enjoy spending time outdoors or watching wildlife, the shore areas and their wildlife are a particular highlight. The trail system includes both the river and the lake’s north shore.
Swimming, paddling, and outings on the water
At Kent’s Landing, a swimming area is designated at the main beach. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are available to rent there. Swimming and paddling are two different options at the same location: you can plan to use the swimming area or go out in a kayak or on a SUP board.
On Long Lake, you can take a ride on the Songo River Queen II, an authentic paddle-wheel steamboat with food and cocktails on board. This differs from the paddling options at Kent’s Landing: here, the focus is a boat ride, while there, you can use kayaks and SUP boards. Causeway Marina is a starting point for outings on Brandy Pond. The boat options described, therefore, involve two different bodies of water.
Culture and an annual festival date
The Naples Historical Society and the Naples Historical Museum are located in a museum building at Village Green. This historical attraction adds a cultural dimension to the nature and water activities. The Maine Blues Festival takes place in Naples every year on Father’s Day weekend.
Mini golf, games, and a boardwalk on the Causeway
On the Naples Causeway, Causeway Fun Mini Golf offers mini golf with views of Long Lake. The Songo River Queen II features the same lake in a different way: as the destination for a paddle-wheel steamboat ride rather than a view while playing. Causeway Fun Arcade offers classic retro games and newer games. The recreational options thus range from mini golf with lake views to games from different generations in the arcade.
The Causeway Boardwalk has park benches and landscaping and runs beneath the bridge to a landscaped amphitheater. Here, seating and the designed surroundings take center stage. Together with mini golf and the arcade, it offers a selection of different recreational activities that you can prioritize according to your interests.
When choosing a hotel, you can first decide what you want your stay to focus on: nature trails, a water activity, the festival weekend, or activities on the Causeway. This lets you tailor your search for hotels in Naples to your travel plans.
