Laughlin: Riverwalk, River Tours and Nature
Accommodation in Laughlin
The options differ considerably in format and scope—from a paved walking path about one mile long to narrated tours, a 9-mile trail network, and historic attractions.
By the River: Path and Tours
The Laughlin Riverwalk is a paved walking path about one mile long along Casino Drive, next to the Hotel Corridor. It offers direct access to water taxis; availability may vary. Dinner cruises are also offered on the Riverwalk, and their schedules may vary as well. Check in advance whether water taxis are available and what the dinner cruise departure times are.
Laughlin River Tours offers daily narrated 90-minute tours along the Colorado River. For planning purposes, these details differ from those for the Riverwalk: the tour has a stated duration, while the walking path has a stated length. Since schedules can change, check the current times in advance.
Trails and Nature
The Colorado River Heritage Greenway Park and Trail offers a 9-mile trail network in the Laughlin area for cyclists, pedestrians, and horseback riders. This trail network provides a different scale from the Riverwalk, which is about one mile long. The park also has accessible fishing areas for visitors of all abilities.
The Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area offers camping, picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and birdwatching. Grapevine Canyon is a hiking area in the Spirit Mountains, a few miles from Laughlin’s resort corridor. If hiking is part of your plans, you can choose between a trail network in the Laughlin area and a canyon near the resort corridor.
Clark: Access to Big Bend
In the Clark destination, seasonal access rules apply to the Big Bend of the Colorado River. Day passes or day-use reservations are required for daily access before 11:30 a.m. from May 15 through September 15. Check this rule before your visit.
History and Culture
Laughlin originated in the 1940s as the South Pointe townsite for workers involved in building Davis Dam, as well as local miners. The Laughlin Labyrinths were created by Wes Dufek in 2011 and comprise eight labyrinths in different shapes and sizes. Their diameters range from 24 feet to more than 60 feet. The labyrinths were therefore created well after Laughlin’s beginnings.
On the third floor of Don Laughlin’s Classic Car Collection is a museum covering 30,000 square feet and offering floor-to-ceiling views of the Colorado River. The museum and labyrinths thus complement Laughlin’s historical landmarks alongside its river and outdoor activities.
