Wildwood Crest
Accommodation in Wildwood Crest
The beaches of Wildwood Crest are accessible at the ends of every street. The town also has a bike path along the beach, several parks with different amenities, and summer events at Sunset Lake. These features can be a practical guide when choosing a hotel: consider whether beach visits, biking, park amenities, or a cultural stop will be the focus of your stay.
Getting around by bike
The Wildwood Crest Borough Bike Path runs along the beach from Rambler Road to Cresse Avenue, then continues along the Wildwoods Boardwalk to North Wildwood. The free Wildwoods bike route starts at Rambler Road in Wildwood Crest and runs along nearly the entire length of the five-mile island. These route details offer two perspectives: specific street points for the local stretch and a nearly island-wide span for the Wildwoods route.
The Mayor’s Wellness Walk also follows the Wildwood Crest Bike Path. It is an annual family walk; the 2026 announcement described it as the eighth edition. The event description thus connects the bike path with a recurring walking event.
Beach visits and seasonal hours
Surfing is allowed in Wildwood Crest at Rambler Road and Aster Road. At Hollywood Avenue, surfing is restricted to 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. If surfing is part of your plans, the three named beach areas therefore differ because of the specific time restriction at Hollywood Avenue.
The 2026 beach schedule also lists lifeguard hours: from the last weekend in May through mid-June, lifeguards are on duty Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on Memorial Day. From mid-June through Labor Day weekend, the daily hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. These seasonal details can help you plan when to visit the beach.
Parks for play, sports, and exercise
The parks offer distinctly different amenities: Scoop Taylor Park has a large children’s playground. Washington Avenue Park has three free public tennis courts. Coleman-Callahan Memorial Park has a free fishing pier and a kayak launch, while Centennial Park has walking and running paths. You can choose between a playground, tennis, fishing, a kayak launch, and paths for walking or running. If a specific park amenity is important to your plans, check its current status before visiting.
Sunrise Park at Rambler Road also has a splash park. Together with the playground at Scoop Taylor Park, this is another specific amenity for a stay with children, although the two parks do not offer the same activities.
Summer events and special places
A free, weekly Summer Concert Series takes place in the summer at the Gazebo at Sunset Lake. Sunset Lake also hosts arts and crafts markets throughout the summer. These are different scheduling details to consider: the concert series follows a weekly schedule, while the markets take place throughout the summer season.
The Crest Arts Pavilion is located at 6301 Ocean Avenue and serves as Wildwood Crest’s tourist information center. The parks also offer nature and history features: Bayview Memorial Park has information about the turtle migration in Wildwood Crest. At Turtle Gut Inlet Park, you can learn the full story of the Nancy. Atlantic bottlenose dolphins are also frequently found in the waters of Wildwood Crest. Possible areas of interest during a stay therefore include not only the beach and outdoor activities, but also local information, history, and nature.
