Groveport offers several concrete starting points for planning a stay: historical collections, outdoor trails, wildlife viewing, and seasonal events. The places and activities focus on different things, so you can plan your visit based on whether you’re looking for culture, outdoor activity, or a scheduled event.

History and Culture

The Groveport Heritage Museum is located in Groveport Town Hall. It displays historical artifacts and memorabilia dating back to the early 19th century. One exhibit focuses on Groveport’s canal history and includes maps, photographs, and artifacts. The museum thus offers two distinct ways to explore the past: a collection of historical objects and an exhibit devoted to the history of the canal.

Groveport Log House, originally built in 1815, is located in Heritage Park. For those interested in historic architecture, it offers a tangible counterpoint to the collections and exhibits: the focus is on a historic building and the year it was built, rather than on individual objects. The Groveport Town Hall Art Gallery changes its exhibits monthly. Since themes and schedules may vary, check what’s currently on view before planning a visit.

Trails, Parks, and Nature

The Blacklick Creek Greenway is a 16-mile paved trail for hiking and biking. It connects three Metro Parks and several smaller parks from Reynoldsburg to Groveport. Groveport Park covers 82 acres. An unpaved walking and biking trail connects it to Blacklick Park and Rager Road. The difference between the trail options is clear: the Greenway connects several parks between Reynoldsburg and Groveport, while the path in Groveport Park leads to Blacklick Park and Rager Road. Fishing is permitted at both ponds in Groveport Park. Since regulations may change, check the current rules before fishing.

At Blacklick Park, you can look out for turkeys, foxes, and deer. From there, a walk of about 0.4 kilometers leads to historic Lock 22. For comparison, the Greenway is 16 miles long, while the walk from Blacklick Park to Lock 22 is about 0.4 kilometers. The name Three Creeks also comes from the confluence of Alum Creek, Big Walnut Creek, and Blacklick Creek.
