Millersburg: History, Museums and Trails
Accommodation in Millersburg
When planning a trip to Millersburg, you can choose how much to focus on historic architecture, museums and outdoor activities. This thematic choice can also help you search for hotels in Millersburg: Would you especially like to explore Historic Downtown, the history of glass, or trails and parks? Each destination has distinct features—from a Queen Anne-style house to a paved trail and natural-surface trails.
Historic Center and Jackson Street
Historic Downtown Millersburg is a Heritage Ohio Main Street Community. Along Jackson Street are preserved 19th-century buildings housing shops, boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and museums. In this historic streetscape, you’ll find retail and dining as well as art and local history. If you’d like to combine architecture with a gallery or museum visit, Jackson Street offers several different places to explore.
Museums and the History of Glass
The Victorian House Museum is a 28-room Queen Anne-style house listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The specific number of rooms and the architectural classification offer two different perspectives on the house: its size in terms of rooms and its architectural style. Historical tours are available by request for groups of six or more; advance reservations are required. Check the current booking details before planning your visit around a tour.
The Millersburg Glass Museum is located next to the Victorian House Museum. Tickets for the glass museum are available in the lobby of the Victorian House Museum; check this ticket information before your visit, as the arrangement may change. The Sieverdes Millersburg Glass Museum contains 400 masterpieces of Millersburg Glass and tells the story of the local glass factory, its employees and its owner, John Fenton. The collection thus connects the glass objects with the history of the business and the people associated with it. Its size may change as exhibits are updated.
Trails and Getting Around
The Holmes County Trail has a paved path for biking, inline skating, walking, running and wheelchair use. An adjoining trail is intended for buggies and riders, as well as horse-drawn vehicles and horseback riding. When planning, you can distinguish between the paved path and its listed uses, and the adjoining trail for horse traffic. Before your visit, check whether temporary closures or construction may affect access.
The Millersburg Depot is located next to the Holmes County Trail, offers restrooms year-round and serves as an information center for the trail and the railway. Legacy Point in Millersburg has more than five miles of natural-surface trails. The difference in surface is clear when choosing where to go: the Holmes County Trail has a paved path, while Legacy Point offers natural-surface trails.
Parks and Facilities
The Deer Run Park Complex includes a dog park, ball fields, a walking path, fitness equipment, the Timothy Baker Amphitheater, two pavilions, basketball courts, a skate park, a disc golf course and a fenced children’s play area. The list includes options for a range of activities, from walking and exercise to sports and events at the amphitheater.
Old Airport Park has ball fields, extensive play equipment, a pavilion, tennis and basketball courts, and pickleball courts. The park is accessible from the Holmes County Trail. Compared with the Deer Run Park Complex, tennis and pickleball courts stand out here; Deer Run, by contrast, includes facilities such as a skate park, disc golf course and amphitheater.
Seasonal Market
The Amish Country Farmers Market takes place in Historic Downtown Millersburg on the first and third Saturday of each month from June through October. If you’re planning a visit during the season, check the specific market date, as dates for future seasons may change.
