When planning a trip to Coweta, you can choose from several themes: the history of Mission Bell and Jimmy Lee Campbell Memorial Park, the annual Coweta Fall Festival, and opportunities for cycling and archery. Seasonal flower fields and a farm store are also local attractions. If you’re looking for a hotel in Coweta, these highlights can help you plan your stay around your interests.

Historic Sites and Remembrance

Mission Bell has stood in the center of Coweta since 1907. The original chandelier still hangs in the middle of the church. Since 1972, the church has been known as the Mission Bell Museum; in 2003, the museum was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The distinction between the two historic sites is clear: Mission Bell connects the history of a church and a museum, while the park commemorates nine soldiers.

Jimmy Lee Campbell Memorial Park honors Corporal Jimmy Lee Campbell and eight fellow soldiers who died during the Vietnam War or as a result of the conflict. A five-foot-tall monument contains information about all nine soldiers.

Festival and Cycling Event

The Coweta Fall Festival takes place in downtown Coweta every year and lasts three days; admission is free. The program includes live music, carousel rides, arts and crafts, games, and fair food. If the festival is the reason for your trip, check the dates and program for that year’s edition: events and admission arrangements may change.

The Tour de Cowtown offers four routes to choose from: a free five-mile family ride, plus routes of 20, 30, and 62 miles. The five-mile family ride is very different from the longest, 62-mile route; the 20- and 30-mile options fall in between. The tour passes through rolling hills, cattle pastures, and vineyards; the scenery along the route may vary. After the ride, participants can enjoy free fair food. Route distances and food offerings may change in future editions.

For planning purposes, the two events differ mainly in the information provided: for the festival, the three-day duration and program matter; for the tour, the route distances are key.
