Discover Roseburg
Accommodation in Roseburg
Roseburg combines experiences in the city with recreational opportunities on the water and destinations nearby. The South Umpqua River flows through the center. There are also parks, a museum, public art, and offerings related to wine and the farmers’ market. You can tailor your stay around city walks, culture, seasonal river activities, or longer outings in the surrounding area.
Parks, River, and Trails
Stewart Park is a regional park covering 236 acres. A 2.6-mile loop trail runs through the park and around the golf course, ending at Roseburg Duck Pond. Roseburg’s city parks also offer walking trails, playgrounds, disc golf courses, and viewpoints.
In the warmer months, the Umpqua River offers opportunities for swimming, rafting, floating, sunbathing, and picnicking. Roseburg also has miles of paved trails for rides on wheels. They loop around the city, run along the river, and offer numerous park stops along the way.
For a multi-day hiking or biking trip, the North Umpqua Trail runs for 79 miles along the North Umpqua River in the nearby area. East of Roseburg, the Umpqua National Forest is also nearby, with Douglas firs, wildflowers, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, creeks, and hiking trails.
History and Public Art
The Douglas County Museum displays Oregon’s largest natural history collection. The permanent exhibit “Wagons West & The Oregon Trail” includes pioneer wagons and a fully stocked general store.
The Historic Downtown Roseburg Walking Tour is free and self-guided. It starts at the intersection of Jackson Street and Douglas Avenue. The Experience Roseburg Mural Project invites visitors to explore the public art downtown. On the Experience Roseburg Mural Tour, you can choose your own route and pace.
The tours have different focuses: one takes you to a designated starting point for a walk through the historic city center; the other can be completed in any order and at your own pace.
Wine Tasting and Farmers’ Market
Paul O’Brien Winery offers a relaxed wine tasting in the historic Hansen-Chevrolet building in downtown Roseburg. The tasting room is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; hours may change, so check before your visit.
The Umpqua Valley Farmers’ Market takes place year-round every Saturday in the 500 block of Jackson Street in downtown Roseburg. Offerings include organic fruits and vegetables, as well as handmade crafts. Check the market details before your trip.
