When looking for a hotel in Langhorne, you can choose where to stay based on different interests: Catawissa Nature Preserve near the town center, sites and facilities related to local history, or seasonal activities at Langhorne Heritage Farm and Richardson House. Nature, local history, and seasonal offerings provide different ways to experience the town. When planning your trip, it helps to distinguish between these areas and choose the one you want to shape your stay.

Local History from Several Perspectives

The Borough of Langhorne has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a district in Pennsylvania since 1987. The Historic Langhorne Association brings together several points of interest related to local history. Its museum is located on the main floor and features a wide variety of objects connected to Langhorne residents, businesses, and schools. The collection thus brings together people, business life, and education as distinct aspects of the town.

The Association also maintains a public research library and offers a variety of activities, programs, lectures, and tours on local history. Its role therefore extends beyond the collection: research and a range of history-related formats are also part of its work.

Soldiers of the Revolutionary War who died in a nearby field hospital were buried at the Revolutionary War Burial Site. This site adds a specific connection to Langhorne’s military history to the institutional offerings related to the town’s past. These historical connections are found on several levels: in the district’s register listing, in the museum’s objects, and at a site connected to the Revolutionary War.

Nature Near the Town Center

Catawissa Nature Preserve is a nature preserve near the town center. Natural springs on the grounds form Catawissa Creek. There is also an informal trail and several footbridges. Nature here is reflected both in the formation of the creek and in the area’s specific trail network. The preserve’s location is described by its proximity to the town center; the springs, trail, and footbridges, meanwhile, define the character of the grounds. This differs from the focus of the Historic Langhorne Association, whose museum, research library, and offerings are devoted to local history.

Seasonal Activities and Events

Community gardening and artistic work are seasonal activities at Langhorne Heritage Farm. Every summer, the farm hosts community gardeners from across the surrounding area. During the warmer months, from April to October, nearly a dozen artists rent studio spaces on the grounds. The time frames differ: gardening is associated with summer, while the studio rentals run from April to October. Concerts are also held on the grounds of Richardson House in the summer. By season, gardening and concerts are both associated with summer, while the studios are occupied from April to October.
