Coppell brings together nature, local history, and recreational activities in several distinct themes to help you plan your trip. Three habitats shape the nature theme at Coppell Nature Park; Old Town Coppell points to the community’s original location. Bethel Cemetery, the indoor pool at CORE, and the Coppell Arts Center round out the picture. If you’re looking for a hotel in Coppell, you can base your choice on the activities and themes that matter for your stay.

Nature and Environmental Education at Coppell Nature Park

Coppell Nature Park covers 66 acres. It offers three habitat types for local wildlife: Cross-Timbers forest, Blackland Prairie, and Cottonwood Creek. More than 130 different bird species migrate through the park each year. It also has more than five miles of trails to explore. The landscape, bird migration, and trails offer distinct points of interest for nature-minded travelers.

The Biodiversity Education Center at Coppell Nature Park offers and promotes hands-on environmental education. The center is also a Texas Aquatic Science-certified field site. This adds a dedicated educational aspect to the park’s landscape and wildlife: environmental education and nature stand as distinct themes.

Local History at Bethel Cemetery and Old Town

Bethel Cemetery was established in 1853 by the James Parrish family and is located at Christi Lane and Moore Road. The graves of early Texas pioneers, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, and Civil War veterans are located there. Some Indigenous people and several enslaved Black people are also buried there. Historic Bethel Cemetery has been preserved and restored and has had a Texas State Historical Marker since 1989. The 1989 marker provides a later historical reference point alongside the 1853 founding date.

Old Town Coppell is located in the city’s historic district, on the original site where the community took shape. It is a pedestrian-friendly gathering place centered around a town square. The two historic sites offer distinct points of emphasis: Bethel Cemetery represents cemetery history and remembrance, while Old Town Coppell represents the original town site and the town square.

Recreation and Culture

Another clearly defined destination is the Main Street Interactive Fountain, located next to the Farmers Market Pavilion and playground at 768 W Main St.

CORE offers a different kind of recreation: its indoor pool is available year-round for lap swimming and play features. Group swimming lessons for children and adults of all skill levels are also offered year-round. Using the pool for lap swimming and play features is distinct from the group lesson program, which includes a range of skill levels.

The Coppell Arts Center aims to create a gathering place, celebrate local artists, and offer top-tier entertainment and a wide range of cultural experiences for Coppell and the greater Dallas–Fort Worth region.
