Turtle Lake offers trails with different routes, a scenic road, a museum with outdoor exhibits, and local dining and shopping options. When planning your trip, you can compare routes by length and location; the museum, dining options, and park offer additional points of interest.

Trails with Different Routes

The Northern Railroad Trail is accessible in Turtle Lake and runs about 13 miles to Cumberland, providing access to downtown Cumberland. The Cattail State Trail runs 18 miles along a former rail line between Amery and Almena and through the Village of Turtle Lake. At 18 miles compared with about 13, the Cattail State Trail is around five miles longer than the Northern Railroad Trail. Their geographic connections also differ: the Northern Railroad Trail provides access to downtown Cumberland, while Amery and Almena are the endpoints of the Cattail, which runs through Turtle Lake.

Rustic Road 67 and the Landscape

Rustic Road 67 complements the trails with a focus on scenery. Its 4.6-mile paved route runs north through Turtle Lake and along the edge of Skinaway Lake. The surrounding area includes forests, wetlands, fields, and wooded areas, as well as wildlife and wildflowers. If you are choosing between a nature-focused outing and a route-focused one, Rustic Road offers a different perspective from the trails: here, the landscape, paved surface, and route length shape the comparison, while the trails are distinguished more by their connections and points of reference.

Local History at the Turtle Lake Museum

At the Turtle Lake Museum, visitors can explore several buildings and outdoor exhibits. The exhibits cover the history of Turtle Lake, the railroad, war memorabilia, schools, and agriculture; there is also a collection of antique telephones. A visit to the museum brings together local history and several clearly distinct subject areas. If you are interested in the area's history, you can explore several different topics.

The different offerings can help you decide what suits you: the casino venues listed serve food, while Jim's Dairy Store offers cheese and dairy products as well as gift boxes.
