Lake Geneva is located on the shore of Geneva Lake. The destination combines a lakeside setting with places in Downtown and offerings related to nature, culture, and entertainment. For planning purposes, the stops can be distinguished by their focus: the Shore Path circles the lake, while parks, buildings, and individual activities each have their own themes.

Lakeshore and Downtown

Riviera Beach is in Downtown Lake Geneva, right next to the historic Riviera building. The Geneva Lake Shore Path is 21 miles long and circles Geneva Lake. This offers views ranging from a specific landmark in the center to a path that takes in the lake as a whole.

Flat Iron Park is also located on the shore of Geneva Lake in Downtown Lake Geneva. Major festivals and events are held there, including Lake Geneva Concerts in the Park, Winterfest, Art in the Park, and Venetian Festival. If a particular event is important to your trip, check the dates and program before your visit.

Nature on the White River

Samuel Donian Wetland Preserve is located in the center of Lake Geneva, just off Main Street in Downtown. Its observation platform offers views of the White River. On higher ground, there is a wheelchair-accessible walkway; a boardwalk leads to a seating area by the water. Check the details of these facilities before your trip.

History and Architecture

A historic marker in Library Park describes a lakeshore path used by several Indigenous cultures from 2500 BC to AD 1836. The Potawatomi, under Chief Big Foot, also traveled this path between their villages near the present-day communities of Fontana, Williams Bay, and Lake Geneva. The path’s history gives the park a historical connection.

Library Park is also home to the Lake Geneva Public Library. It was designed by James R. Dresser, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. This adds an architectural history connection to the history of the lakeshore path.
