Gaschurn: Trails, Culture and Silvretta
Accommodation in Gaschurn
In Gaschurn, cultural sites, trails and circular routes sit alongside via ferratas and the Mountain Beach leisure complex. The high-alpine world of the Silvretta, with its glaciers and distinctive peaks, also shapes the landscape. The specific themes and starting points of each destination provide helpful guidance for planning your trip.
Trails and orientation
The Gaglaweg leads through Gaschurn to historic buildings and scenic spots. Here, local history and landscape go hand in hand: the trail connects the two. The Gaschurn–Partenen–Galtür Cultural and Landscape Trail focuses on different themes. It covers nature, landscape, culture, flora and fauna, combining cultural and natural subjects.
If you are looking for a circular route suitable for pushchairs, the Gaschurn–Klusertobel Tour is designated as pushchair-friendly. It starts and ends in the centre of Gaschurn and passes through Klusertobel and Unter Trantrauas. Its specified start and end point and the named places along the way help you factor the route into your day’s plans in advance.
For the Gaschurn Village Trail, the Gaschurn Center bus stop on route 650 is the starting and ending stop. This gives the trail a specific stop as its reference point. So the trails differ not only in their themes: the circular route is described as pushchair-friendly and its course is specified, while the Village Trail has a designated bus stop.
Church and museum
The parish church of Gaschurn is a historic church in the Neo-Romanesque style and was consecrated in 1869. Its altar and ceiling paintings were created by the brothers Franz and Jakob Bertle in the Late Nazarene style. The last surviving Tanzlaube in the Montafon stands right next to the church. The building’s history, paintings and neighbouring Tanzlaube offer different points of interest if you are interested in the local cultural history.
The Alpine and Tourism Museum Gaschurn explores the history of the Montafon’s alpine activities and tourism through permanent and temporary exhibitions. Seasonal opening hours apply in 2026: from June 16 to October 26, the museum is open Tuesdays to Fridays and Sundays from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Check these opening hours before your trip if you want to plan your museum visit in advance.
Via ferratas in Gaschurn
The Rifa via ferrata is located in the climbing garden of the same name near the Rifabecken, between Gaschurn and Partenen. It is designated as a well-secured beginner via ferrata, rated A/B, and is also suitable for children getting their first experience on rock. Its specific difficulty rating and suitability for beginners and children are therefore clearly stated.
The Burg via ferrata can be climbed in both directions. Via ferrata techniques can be practised there all year round, although seasonal mountain conditions may vary. For Rifa, the A/B rating and beginner-friendly nature are the main features; for Burg, they are the choice of direction and the opportunity to practise techniques. These differences can help you compare the destinations based on the features specified for each.
Silvretta and Mountain Beach
The high-alpine world of the Silvretta is almost on Gaschurn’s doorstep. Glaciers and distinctive peaks shape the landscape and give your stay a strong connection to the mountains. Together with the local trails, this offers a change of scene between themes centred on Gaschurn and the high-alpine landscape of the Silvretta; a trail theme and a landscape impression remain two different perspectives.
Another specific option is the Mountain Beach leisure park in Gaschurn. It has two bathing lakes with a water surface area of approximately 6,300 m². The facilities also include water slides, a children’s paddling pool, a rafting course and a beach volleyball court. The listed facilities range from water activities to a sports area. This gives you a clear picture of Mountain Beach’s features, while the trails, church and via ferratas show other sides of Gaschurn.
