When choosing a destination, different interests may come into play: in Čazma, the highlights range from a biological swimming facility and nature trails to architectural and museum history. These specific places offer different ways to shape your stay around your interests.

Nature trails and landscapes around Čazma

The Česma Valley themed hiking trail runs for 12.5 kilometres from Vustje to Sišćane, following the Česma River. The entire route lies within a Natura 2000 area. Along the trail, there are benches, bicycle racks and information panels with educational content about local nature. The route therefore combines a clearly defined length and two endpoints with information about its natural surroundings.

In the wider region around Čazma, Moslavačka gora offers opportunities for easy hikes and cycling trips. Mjesec is the highest peak of Moslavačka gora on the Čazma side. This offers two distinct landscape features to choose from: the peak on one hand and the river followed by the Česma Valley on the other.

In Vustje, an elevated wooden educational trail leads to a platform where you can observe birds and other animals. A stork-nest viewing platform offers views across the Natura 2000 area. Local cuisine is also connected to the surrounding area: Šaran na rašljama is considered a gastronomic speciality of Vustje.

Medjame offers another way to experience nature: the nearly two-kilometre-long elevated wooden route passes through a semi-wetland and is about a ten-minute walk from the centre of Čazma. Medjame is an important habitat for wetland birds and amphibians; information panels describe local plant and animal species. The site is temporarily closed for maintenance work. Architectural history and museum

The parish church of St Mary Magdalene was built in the second quarter of the 13th century and originally served as a Dominican monastery church. The building is Romanesque-Gothic. One striking architectural feature is the western rose window, which measures more than six metres in diameter. Its construction period, original use and style offer different points of reference if you are interested in the building’s history.

The Čazma City Museum is a general museum located within the Čazma Cultural Centre. It holds more than 16,500 objects in 22 collections. The medieval archaeological collection includes finds from the medieval fortress, the monastery beside the Church of St Mary Magdalene, and the former site of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Gradina is a medieval fortress site and is protected as an immovable cultural property of Croatia. Together, these subjects illustrate different facets of local cultural history, from archaeological finds to a protected historic site.

Biological swimming

Čazma has a public biological swimming facility that uses biofiltration instead of chlorine. It is used for swimming, recreation and relaxation, and also hosts events. This adds a different focus to trails, wildlife observation and historic buildings: water and leisure swimming. Depending on which of these themes appeals to you most, you can plan your stay accordingly.
