Zlatna Greda: Nature and active recreation
Accommodation in Zlatna Greda
Zlatna Greda is a small rural Pustara settlement and is considered a place for active recreation, relaxation and enjoying nature. The route passes Tikveš Castle and then continues through the forests of Kopački rit. This gives you two specific landmarks to help you orient yourself along the way before you include activities at the Eko centar in your plans.
Activities at Eko centar Zlatna Greda
For groups that book in advance, Eko centar Zlatna Greda offers nature education programmes, organised excursions and children’s programmes. Other activities include cycling, paddling through Kopački rit and wildlife photo safaris. This means nature education, physical activity and wildlife observation are available as distinct activity options. Group activities must be arranged in advance; weekend excursions are temporarily unavailable.
Associated with Eko centar are the “Blago močvare” educational trail, a bicycle rental service, an adventure park for children with a playground, treehouses and a relaxation area. These facilities complement the group activities with other options for outdoor recreation. Availability may vary for individual activities, so check in advance what is available.

In the wider destination of Općina Bilje, the Tikveš Presentation and Education Centre is located in the northern part of Kopački rit Nature Park. Its multimedia and interactive exhibition introduces visitors to the key features and natural phenomena of Kopački rit. The Tikveš Castle complex comprises the New Castle with its annex and the Old Castle, and dates back to the 19th century.
There are two observation huts on the “Blago močvare” educational trail. One is used for wildlife observation, particularly deer during the rutting season; the other is intended for birdwatching along the Čarna Canal. The two huts therefore have different focuses: wildlife and rutting deer in one, and birds along the canal in the other.
Regional festivals also have different themes. Ribarski dani in Kopačevo is held regularly in early September and keeps the settlement’s fishing tradition alive. Visitors can enjoy traditional fish specialities, game dishes and wines from Baranja. Paprika fest in Lug is traditionally held on the village’s feast day. The festival focuses on ground paprika, a particularly defining ingredient in Baranja’s cuisine; guests can also learn about the culture and customs of Hungarians in Croatia.
The Reformed Christian Church stands in the centre of Lug and is considered a landmark of the settlement. A simple pilgrimage church in Lug was visited by pilgrims from its early days. Vardarac has an ethno house with an extensive ethnographic collection that is gradually being made more accessible to tourists. An equestrian club in Vardarac offers horseback riding for tourists.
