Rastislavice: Churches, Village Traditions and Birdlife
Accommodation in Rastislavice
Discover Rastislavice through its different local attractions: church architecture, village traditions and the Dolné Považie Protected Bird Area shape the themes of a stay here.
Church architecture with a history of its own
The Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception was created by converting an older grain store. The single-nave functionalist building dates from 1939 to 1941. Rastislavice’s specific architectural history is therefore clearly defined.
The Evangelical church is also part of the village’s architectural history. It was designed by the Prague architect Václav Ložek. Those interested in architecture will find two distinct church buildings, each with its own documented origins and design.
Village traditions and places of remembrance
The municipal museum was established in 2002 as a space devoted to traditions. It presents the history of the municipality, folk customs and the culture of its residents. In 2019, the museum was temporarily closed while new premises were being sought for it. If you plan to visit, check in advance whether it is currently open to visitors.

In Nové Rastislavice, there is a renovated old swing well, known in Slovak as a vahadlová studňa. It is estimated to be about 100 years old; this historical dating was recorded in 2020. A monument to Red Army soldiers also stands in front of the Rastislavice municipal office.
The Degešské majere are also part of the area’s historical economic and food culture. They produced dairy products of excellent quality; cheese and butter from the Degešské majere were sold as far away as Budapest. This describes historical production and past trade, not a current tasting offer.
Protected bird area and natural features
The protected Dolné Považie Bird Area (SKCHUV005) extends through Rastislavice. On the western edge of the built-up area of Nové Rastislavice, its boundary follows the edge of the settlement. The European site of interest Šurianské slaniská is also located within the wider area of Rastislavice. These references distinguish the protected area within the village from another protected area located in the wider municipality.

From Rastislavice, you can access a blue-marked cycle route in the neighbouring municipality of Poľný Kesov, which is 11.7 kilometres long. The route is a specific cycling option to consider when planning your trip, but it is in the neighbouring municipality, not within the described village area.
