Naucelles: Street Art and Local History
Accommodation in Naucelles
When planning your trip to Naucelles, you can start with a range of interests: street art and cultural activities, historic architecture, or sports. When looking for a hotel in Naucelles, it can help to first decide which of these themes will be the deciding factor for your trip.
Street Art and Cultural Activities
Le Parapluie is a centre created specifically to develop street art projects. Its areas of work include workshops for building stage and event structures, a dance studio, and an outdoor area for setting up big tops. Its facilities therefore cover construction, movement, and the creation of larger temporary performance spaces. Schools and other groups can visit throughout the year to discover the venue and meet a company working there in residence. In 2026, Le Parapluie is open daily and free to visit; check these details before your visit.
Micro-Folie Naucelles & Auhtre offers a different kind of cultural experience. It provides digital access to works from major national and international cultural institutions. Its educational activities are participatory and complemented by creative workshops, games, readings, or hands-on activities; the specific formats may change. The main difference between the two cultural offerings is therefore their format: the work of a street art centre, or digital access to cultural works accompanied by additional activities.
Church, Tower, and Remembrance
Naucelles’ historic buildings include the Church of Saint-Christophe and the Tour de Naucelles. The present-day church is dedicated to Saint Christopher, and is small and built in a rustic Gothic style. Inside is an old enamel painting of Christ on the cross, apparently dating from the Byzantine period. A few steps from the church stands the Tour de Naucelles, on an artificial mound. It was a signal tower with an observation post and appears to date from the late 9th century. The church and tower thus reflect different functions: sacred art on the one hand, observation and signalling on the other.
Édouard Serre is also commemorated in Naucelles as a pioneer of aviation. The municipality has taken over his grave and is responsible for its restoration and upkeep. Alongside the town’s architectural history and enamel painting, remembrance of a figure from aviation history is therefore another local theme.
Footpaths and Sports
The Voies douces provide safe walking routes from Cité Beauséjour to Bourg and from Reilhac to Bourg as well. As the routes may change, it is advisable to check the exact paths before setting out.
The Centre Omnisports de la Vallée de l’Authre offers tennis, basketball, handball, table tennis, and archery. The centre can be rented by clubs based outside the municipality of Naucelles. Clubs should check the rental conditions before making plans. The sports listed describe the range of activities at the centre; for trip planning, it is also important to note that the stated rental option is for clubs.
