Ytrac lies between the Authre and Cère valleys. The town offers a range of options for a stay: cycling routes, trails in Forêt de Branviel and cultural sites. If you are considering Ytrac as a destination for a hotel stay, distinguishing between these highlights can help you tailor your search to your planned activities.

Cycling on a variety of routes

The Tour d'Ytrac mountain bike loop alternates between short technical sections and wide, easy-to-ride paths. It starts at the library car park at the entrance to Ytrac. As access information can change, it is worth checking the latest route description before setting out.

The Ytrac–Sansac-de-Marmiesse mountain bike route runs through a forest in its first section, making it suitable for beginners and family outings. This suitability applies to that section and offers a concrete reference point if you are looking for a mountain bike option for beginners or a family outing.

The Ytrac–Le Barrage mountain bike route links the Aurillac basin with Lac de Saint-Etienne-Cantalès and passes through bocage landscapes. When choosing a route, you can therefore distinguish between the Tour d'Ytrac loop, with its varied trail sections, and a regional route through bocage landscapes.

On foot and in Forêt de Branviel

The Sentier de la Poésie is a very easy 2.4 km walking trail; the walk takes about an hour. Its short distance, approximate walking time and easy difficulty make it easy to consider as a manageable activity. Route details may be updated by the municipality; check the latest description before setting out.

Forêt de Branviel offers opportunities for hiking, cycling and horse riding. Several trails let you discover the local wildlife and plant life. There is nearby parking and an information board at Forêt de Branviel. Visitor information about these facilities may change; check the current situation before your visit.

Culture and history in Ytrac

Château d'Ytrac is one of the castles that can be visited in Ytrac. The Church of Saint-Julien d'Ytrac is also a historic landmark in its own right.

The Church of Saint-Julien d'Ytrac was rebuilt in 1844, starting from a 12th-century church. Some traces of the older building remain in parts of the vault. The church also has Byzantine frescoes by the Russian painter Nicolaï Greschny. The 19th-century rebuilding, the surviving traces of the older building and the frescoes thus represent distinct aspects of the church.

Arsène Vermenouze also connects Ytrac with the cultural history of Cantal. He was born on 26 September 1850 in Vielle, in the municipality of Ytrac. He was a leading figure in Cantal and a symbol of the renaissance of the langue d'oc. His significance therefore extends beyond his birthplace to the region's linguistic and cultural history.
