If you’re looking for a hotel in Beaulieu, your travel interests can be a good starting point: historic buildings, cycling on the Via Fluvia, or a short, marked walking trail. Beaulieu offers specific points of interest related to these topics, each clearly distinct from the others. This lets you plan your stay around the places and activities that interest you; the heritage sites and different types of routes provide useful guidance.

Architectural heritage and protected sites

The Château d’Adiac is partially listed as a historic monument. The protected features include the façades and roofs, a staircase with a wooden balustrade, and two rooms on the first floor: one in the residential building and a vaulted room in the keep. The furnishings in both rooms are also included. The protection therefore covers selected exterior features and furnished interior spaces.

The scope of protection is broader for the Eglise Notre-Dame de l'Assomption: since May 4, 1910, the entire building has been classified as a historic monument. The Pont suspendu de Margeaix suspension bridge is also listed as a historic monument and is associated with Beaulieu and Saint-Vincent. Since February 7, 1994, its protected status has covered the entire bridge, including the keeper’s house. The scope of protection is a useful distinction: specific features are protected at the château, the classification applies to the entire church, and the keeper’s house is explicitly included in the protection of the bridge.

Via Fluvia and walking trail

The Via Fluvia is a cycle route connecting the Loire and Rhône rivers and passing through Beaulieu in the direction of Rosières. In Beaulieu, it crosses the Suissesse via a 36-metre footbridge. After the crossing, the route follows the former La Galoche railway line. This brings together the broader route between the Loire and Rhône and the local direction toward Rosières.

If you’d prefer to walk, the marked, short PR637 Mont Recours et côtes de la Loire trail starts in Beaulieu. The two routes are clearly distinct in terms of activity and course: the Via Fluvia is a cycle route with a river crossing and a subsequent stretch along the former railway line; PR637 is a short, marked walking trail that starts in Beaulieu. This comparison offers practical guidance if you’re weighing cycling and walking as different focuses for your stay.

More points of interest

Beaulieu is also home to the Tir Sportif Beaulieu Emblavez sports shooting centre. This adds a clearly defined sporting activity alongside architectural heritage and trails. The La Galoche restaurant serves generous, family-style cuisine, pizzas, and other house specialities year-round. As restaurant offerings can change, check the current menu before visiting.

The Étang de la Plaine is located within the municipality of Beaulieu. A visitor review from April 2023 rated access from Rosières as better; this assessment may vary depending on the route you choose. This keeps the pond’s location and the access advice clear as two distinct points of reference.
