In Tiranges, you can choose between walking routes and a mountain bike loop. The PR678 La chapelle Saint-Régis is a moderately difficult 10.9-kilometre circular walk; the PR210 Le Moulinet runs through the valleys and meanders of the Ance. The VTT N°40 Circuit des Rois de Cerces is designated as a difficult, 21-kilometre mountain bike loop. The routes therefore differ in mode of travel, length, difficulty and the landscapes described.

Walking: Saint-Régis Chapel and the Ance

The PR678 La chapelle Saint-Régis is a moderately difficult 10.9-kilometre circular walk. It passes Saint-Régis Chapel and then returns to Tiranges. The landscapes along the route include pastures and forests. In suitable weather, the orientation board offers a view of the Plateau de la Madeleine, the sucs yssingelais and Mont Mézenc. Distance and difficulty answer different planning questions: the former indicates the route’s length, while the latter classifies it as moderately difficult. The chapel and the return to Tiranges are reference points along the route; the view, by contrast, depends on the weather. For your planning, the distant view is therefore a possibility, not a fixed part of the itinerary.

The PR210 Le Moulinet has a different landscape focus. It runs through the valleys and meanders of the Ance, as well as through meadows and forests. Several hamlets lie along the route, including Chaumont. The landscape also features a small, isolated Strombolian-type volcano with gentle slopes that are partly covered in coniferous forest. Meanders are winding river bends; together with the valleys of the Ance, they make the river a recurring landscape feature of the walk. Compared with the PR678, which highlights the chapel and the view possible in suitable weather, the PR210 focuses on river formations, hamlets and the geological feature.

Mountain bike routes and changing course layouts

The VTT N°40 Circuit des Rois de Cerces complements the walking routes with a difficult 21-kilometre mountain bike loop. At 10.9 kilometres, the PR678 is considerably shorter; it is also classified as a moderately difficult walk, while the VTT N°40 is considered difficult. Read the two distances together with their respective activities and difficulty ratings: you are comparing a walk with a challenging cycling route, not two like-for-like tours. There is a picnic area, public toilets and free parking at the VTT N°40. Check the route conditions before setting off, and enquire about the availability of the listed facilities before travelling.

The Techni'Trail de Tiranges features very steep forest slopes, river crossings with or without a rope section, and a lava flow. Specific course layouts may vary. Plan your route according to the course in question.
