Alenya brings together a romantic garden in the village, cultural venues at the Caves Ecoiffier, and the Cami de la Mar hiking trail. When choosing a hotel in Alenya, you can therefore consider the character of the village from two perspectives: culture and events on the one hand, and gardens and a scenic route on the other. You can decide whether a cultural event or the route is the main reason for your stay by considering the specific places described below.

Art and Culture at the Caves Ecoiffier

At the heart of the Caves Ecoiffier, the municipality of Alenya developed the “Antonio Machado” centre, starting in January 2008. It is dedicated to artistic residencies, as well as artistic creation and dissemination. Its projects include workshops, open rehearsals and readings, which foster dialogue between artists and audiences. Its focus therefore ranges from the creation of artistic works to formats that seek to engage with the public. For culture enthusiasts, the difference from a trip focused solely on performances is that working and meeting formats are also part of the programme here.

The Rotonde at the Caves Ecoiffier regularly hosts exhibitions and numerous events. More than 30 performances take place each year in the Marcel-Oms Hall as part of the municipality’s cultural season. This brings different cultural formats together: exhibitions and events at the Rotonde, as well as the hall’s performance series within the municipal cultural season. If you want to plan your travel dates around a particular performance, check the specific date.

Events Throughout the Year

Bioviv’Art takes place every year at the end of July at the Caves Ecoiffier. Individual programmes may change, so if you are planning your trip around the festival, check the specific edition and its dates in advance. “Vendanges d’Octobre” is also part of Alenya’s cultural history: the arts and culture festival was founded in 2001.

Hiking Trail and Garden

The Cami de la Mar hiking trail starts at the tourist information point near the Caves Ecoiffier and runs from Alenya via the Chapelle de Villerase to Saint-Cyprien. Along the way, you can take in vineyards, orchards and the vegetation in the bed of the Agouille de la Mar. Unlike a stay with a fixed cultural programme, the focus here is on the route and its scenery.

The Jardin Tauléra is a romantic garden in the centre of Alenya and offers a different focus from the Cami de la Mar: here, the setting is a garden in the village, while the hiking trail runs via Villerase to Saint-Cyprien. This lets you choose between a garden setting in the heart of Alenya and a route featuring vineyards, orchards and vegetation along the Agouille de la Mar.
