Oberdachstetten lies in the upper reaches of the Rezat at a wooded, elevated location. The municipality is part of the Frankenhöhe Nature Park and offers several named hiking trails, historic churches and an annual parish fair. If you are looking for a destination that combines nature and cultural experiences, you will find some practical starting points here to help plan your trip.

The Rezat Spring and Trails Through the Landscape

The Rezat Spring is located in the municipality on the hiking trail from Oberdachstetten to Marktbergel. The European Watershed Trail can also be used to explore the municipality on foot. Other sights mentioned include the Teufelsgraben on the hiking trail from Oberdachstetten to Westheim. Part of the “Weiherboden bei Anfelden” nature reserve contains important wetland habitats for specific animal and plant species, which are preserved through extensive land management.

Several circular hiking trails vary in length, route and difficulty. The moderately difficult “Storch” circular trail passes through Urphertshofen before returning to Oberdachstetten; it is 6.7 kilometers long and has 160 meters of elevation gain. The also moderately difficult “Roter Milan” route passes through Waldeslust, Spinnerin, the burial mound, the Rezat Spring and the quarry, then returns via Waldeslust. It is 7.4 kilometers long. On the moderately difficult, 9.5-kilometer “Eichblatt” circular trail back to Oberdachstetten, the route passes through Buchenberg, by the hunting lodge and through Spielberg. The moderately difficult “Bachstelze,” which is 13.8 kilometers long, passes through Spielberg, crosses the B 13 south of Hohenau and continues through Mitteldachstetten before returning. This gives you a choice ranging from the shorter, moderately difficult “Storch” loop to the longest of these four trails, the “Bachstelze.”

Another option is the easy “Steinpilz” circular trail: it starts and ends in Anfelden and passes through Landsknecht and by the Schwedenkreuz; the route is 7.2 kilometers long. When comparing your routes, you can consider both the stated difficulty and the distance. Trail conditions and signage may change; check the latest route information before setting out on your hike.

Churches, Memorial Sites and the Parish Fair

Local memorial sites are also connected to the hiking trails: the so-called “Spinnerin” lies on the route from Oberdachstetten to Westheim. A memorial in the form of a Romanesque cross commemorates her. The parish fair in Oberdachstetten is held every year on the third Sunday in October. The traditional procession ends with the “Pariser Eilrad.” For specific planning, check the dates for the relevant year.
