Discover Wassertrüdingen through local stories and water features from different perspectives. At the museum, by historic buildings, and in the parks, you will encounter various themes to consider when planning your stay. The old town provides a sense of place: it lies between Wörnitz Park and Klingenweiher Park.

Legends and Local History

The Sagenweg begins at the south entrance to Klingenweiher Park. The circular trail has 11 stops featuring traditional legends, stories, and tales from Wassertrüdingen and the surrounding villages. You can explore the stops independently; the focus is on stories that draw on both the town and its surroundings. This makes the trail a distinct way to discover local traditions, alongside the town’s architectural heritage.

Among these historic landmarks is the Törle, considered a symbol of Wassertrüdingen. It is the last surviving town gate of the three that once stood here. Another trace of history leads to the tower of the town church: there you will find the former tower keeper’s chamber from the 19th century, which has been lovingly and faithfully restored. The town gate and the tower keeper’s chamber offer different perspectives: one represents the town’s former fortifications, while the other is a historic room in the church tower.

Water in Exhibitions and the Landscape

The FLUVIUS Museum explores river and pond landscapes across two floors. Interactive stations cover their formation, distinctive features, and wildlife. There is also a large aquarium with native fish. The upper floor also focuses on pond farming and carp, Middle Franconia’s “fish star.” The museum therefore brings together themes of landscape and nature with the importance of pond farming.

You can also experience water from different perspectives outdoors. At Wörnitz Park, stepped seating by the Mühlweiher pond and walk-through fish ladders along the Wörnitz peninsula invite you to get close to the water. In Klingenweiher Park, the Goldener Weihersteig trail connects the three Klingenweiher ponds with a viewing platform on the former landfill hill. The two parks have different emphases: ponds, views, and the Wörnitz take center stage here.

The Wörnitz river bathing area adds a lagoon-like shallow-water zone and a children’s play area to these water features. The offerings also differ in their focus: at Wörnitz Park, stepped seating and fish ladders shape the experience by the water, while the bathing area combines its shallow-water zone with a play area. If you would like to include places by the water in your stay, you will find a range of themes here rather than just one way to engage with the landscape.

Puppet Theatre for All Ages

Another cultural option is the Wassertrüdingen Puppet Theatre. It offers puppet shows for all ages. After the performances, visitors can also look around a small puppet museum. The museum can therefore be visited after a performance. The theatre and puppet museum complement the themes of local history and nature with a cultural facet of their own.

When planning your stay, you can start by prioritizing your interests: the Sagenweg and historic buildings offer insights into local stories, the FLUVIUS combines landscape with pond farming, and the parks and river bathing area offer different ways to enjoy the water. This variety helps you see Wassertrüdingen as a travel destination and choose the focus of your trip with care.
