Weyarn offers several reasons to plan a stay: the Abbey Church of St. Peter and Paul adds a Baroque touch, Lake Seeham is a place for swimming and boat hire, and the Weyarn Culture Trail invites you to hike and cycle. If you are looking for a hotel in Weyarn, you can take these different interests into account when choosing your destination.

Weyarn Abbey Church and History

The Abbey Church of St. Peter and Paul is a magnificent Baroque church beside the former Augustinian Canons’ monastery, now a monastery of the Teutonic Order. Its history dates back to 1133: at that time, Count Siboto of Falkenstein had the castle complex of Viare, on the site of today’s Weyarn monastery, converted into an Augustinian Canons’ monastery. The place thus combines a specific historical date with a church building that can still be seen today. If you are interested in religious architecture and the history of the monastery, the church makes a fitting focus for your visit.

Lake, Climbing and Outdoor Activities

Lake Seeham has bathing beaches, a boat rental service and campsites. These facilities cater to different kinds of trips: you can consider the lake for a day of swimming, renting a boat or camping. Before you arrive, check with the relevant operators for details of their facilities and current availability.

Another activity is offered by the KletterZ climbing and bouldering centre in Weyarn. Children and adults can climb and boulder there, including as part of a special course programme, which may vary. The facilities include a large climbing hall, an outdoor area and a small bouldering room, as well as a training area, an adventure area and a therapy area. There is also a newly built, large bouldering hall. If you are planning to climb or boulder, you can check the course programme in advance.

For outdoor exercise, the Weyarn Culture Trail invites you to hike and cycle. Another option for a day trip is the Celtic earthwork near Fentbach, on a high plateau above the Mangfall that was once settled by Celts. The Culture Trail and the Celtic earthwork appeal to different interests: the former combines exercise and culture, while the latter is a place with historical ties to the landscape.

Regional Produce and Tastings

In Holzolling, Weyarn, Josef Werndl, known as Haschn Sepp, distils award-winning schnapps at his own fruit distillery and makes special liqueurs. A small schnapps tasting is available by appointment. If you would like to attend a tasting, arrange a time in advance; it is not listed as an informal walk-in offering.
