Hiking the Oberhundemer Bergtour
The Oberhundemer Bergtour is designated as a premium hiking trail in the low mountains and is also a signposted premium circular trail. The start and finish are at the hiking information point at Haus des Gastes in the spa park. The route runs mostly along gently surfaced forest tracks through varied woodland. It also takes in rugged rocks and panoramic views at Kahleberg. Several hiking trails pass the Oberhundem cliffs, including the Bergtour. The circular route, trail surface and landscape each reveal a different side of the same hike. Trail conditions can change, so it is worth checking the latest route information before setting off.
St. Lambertus: Architecture and furnishings
The listed Church of St. Lambertus is a Baroque, three-bay hall church with a Romanesque tower. It was built from 1769 to 1771 under the supervision of Ignatius Gehly. Much of its unified Baroque furnishings was created by Johann Eberhard Schweickardt; the work was carried out between 1770 and 1775. The construction period and the furnishing work are therefore two distinct periods, overlapping in 1770 and 1771. The church building and its furnishings thus offer two specific historical reference points, though their dates do not refer to the same process.
Nature and traditional crafts at the information centre
The Oberhundem Nature Park Information Centre offers insights into stream habitats and the traditional craft of charcoal burning. An interactive multitouch table lets visitors explore the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park virtually. Natural history topics and traditional crafts are presented side by side, with the table adding a virtual exploration of the nature park. Exhibits and interactive features may change. Check the latest information when planning your visit.
Getting there and practical information
The Oberhundemer Bergtour can be reached by public transport via the “Oberhundem” bus stop. At Haus des Gastes, run by the Oberhundem Spa and Tourism Association, there is an e-bike charging station to the right of the entrance. As transport connections and information about facilities may change, it is advisable to check both before travelling. This helps you coordinate your hiking plans and your journey for the same outing.
