When looking for a hotel in Sirolo, it helps to decide what you want to focus on during your stay. The trails of Parco del Conero and the I Pini archaeological site offer two clearly distinct themes. The park is centred on a network of trails and different ways of getting around; I Pini leads to a Picene necropolis and a tomb dating to the 6th century BC. This lets you plan your trip to Sirolo around specific interests in nature and culture.

Trails in Parco del Conero

You can explore Parco del Conero on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike along a network of 18 trails. These three options provide a practical starting point for planning: first consider which way of getting around you have in mind for your stay. Important access points to the trails in Sirolo are numbered 302, 303 and 304. To find your way, distinguish between the two sets of information: the 18 trails describe the network, while the three numbers indicate important access points in Sirolo. Conditions on individual trails can change; the park authority may also update access restrictions. So check the park’s latest notices before setting out.

Information and facilities

The Parco del Conero visitor centre provides information and material about the 18 trails and sells the park’s hiking and geotourism map. This means you can find both trail information and a map of the park there to help plan your outings. The park’s visitor centre and CEA also have a permanent exhibition, an outdoor educational area, a conference room, a bookshop and free parking. Opening arrangements may vary and facilities are subject to operational changes, so check the latest information before visiting.

I Pini and the Picene necropolis

The I Pini di Sirolo archaeological site lies in the heart of Parco del Conero. It is the only musealised, visitable example in the Marche region of a section of a Picene necropolis with circular tomb structures. This gives I Pini a distinct historical and cultural focus alongside the park’s trails. The site is not freely accessible. In summer, visits are possible after contacting Proloco Sirolo – Riviera del Conero in advance. If you would like to include I Pini in your travel plans, contact the Proloco before your planned summer visit.

The Tomba della Regina

Within I Pini lies the Tomba della Regina, the tomb of a Picene noblewoman dating to the 6th century BC. Two vehicles, a two-horse chariot and a calesse, were buried with the woman; the vehicles had been dismantled. These details link the tomb’s date to the specifically named vehicles. While I Pini refers to a section of the necropolis as an archaeological site, the Tomba della Regina draws attention to a single burial.

Different ways to prepare

For a stay focused on the park trails, your choice of how to get around, access points and the latest trail-condition notices are important planning considerations. The archaeological site has a different requirement: it is not freely accessible, and visits are possible in summer after making contact. These different focuses can help you decide whether to plan your trip mainly around a walk on the trail network or a visit with an archaeological focus.
